The Procurement Manager role is full time, offering a highly competitive compensation package including fair wage, benefits and positive company culture. We are looking for an experienced professional to manage and maintain our organization’s supply of products and services.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Plan, manage and evaluate the purchasing activities of the organization
  • Develop purchasing policies and procedures; handle purchasing department budget
  • Source vendors of materials, equipment and supplies; initiate partnerships
  • Evaluate cost and quality of goods or services
  • Negotiate or oversee the negotiation of purchase contracts to secure advantageous terms
  • Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products or substitute materials
  • Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
  • Expect unfavorable events through analysis of data and prepare control strategies
  • Perform risk management for supply contracts and agreements
  • Review and process claims against suppliers
  • Control spending and build a culture of long-term saving on procurement costs
  • Responsible to oversee Equipment Operators, Maintenance, and Cleaners
  • Complete other duties as assigned

Experience and Attributes:

  • Knowledge of sourcing and procurement techniques as well as a dexterity in ÒreadingÓ the market
  • Adept at building rapport and maintaining professional relationships
  • Assertive with concise communication skills verbally and in writing; talented in negotiations
  • Detailed, organized, thorough and accurate
  • Committed to professional development and ongoing learning; accepts training and direction well
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team while also maintaining individual tasks and deadlines
  • Dedicated to working in and promoting a safe work environment

Education and Training:

  • Minimum of five years of experience as a purchasing agent and three years of experience in a managerial role
  • A bachelor’s degree or college diploma in supply chain management, logistics or business administration
  • Knowledge, training or education relating to construction or manufacturing is a strong asset
  • The designation Supply Chain Management Professional (S.C.M.P.) or registration in the educational program of the Purchasing Management Association of Canada is an asset
