Wait Staff

Key Responsibilities

  • Serves meals to residents and guests in a professional and courteous manner;
  • Assists in the set up and preparation for service of various items such as beverages, salads, desserts, etc.;
  • Sets and clears dining tables and delivers tray service as required;
  • Assists with catering, and actively participates in special occasions and theme events;
  • Assists in the orientation and training of new employees;
  • Follows and complies with health and safety legislation and departmental safe job procedures;
  • Complies with all provincial regulations and established department policies and procedures.
  • Work in a position of trust with vulnerable adults (residents);
  • Uphold and promote the organization’s values and philosophy relating particularly to ethics, morality, and integrity as set out in Revera’s Code of Conduct;
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Preference will be give to individuals who have previous experience in the food services industry and working with seniors;
  • Demonstrates an understanding of excellent customer service skills;
  • Must be physically able to lift and transfer heavy, hot items and stand/walk for majority of shift;
  • Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
  • Must provide a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one.

Receptionist

Reporting to on site Management, the Receptionist will respond to all incoming calls, greet and direct all visitors, answering inquiries in a positive and professional manner, representative of Revera.

Key Responsibilities

  • To answer all incoming calls, and respond to caller’s inquiries in a positive, professional manner ;
  • To redirect calls as appropriate and take clear, concise messages when required;
  • To greet, assist and direct all visitors;
  • To pick up and sort internal mail;
  • To stamp, deliver and maintain mail machine for external mail;
  • To prepare packages and arrange courier pick up;
  • To arrange meeting room schedule and bookings;
  • To update phone and distribution lists;
  • To maintain a clean, safe, fully stocked and well organized reception area;
  • To assist with small projects as required by other administrative support (i.e. labels, bulk mailing, etc.);
  • To work in a position of trust with vulnerable adults (residents);
  • To uphold and promote the organization’s values and philosophy relating particularly to ethics, morality, and integrity as set out in Revera’s Code of Conduct;
  • To complete other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Above average interpersonal , oral and written communication skills;
  • Previous experience in reception is considered an asset;
  • Must exhibit professional and polished telephone manner;
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks at once, work under pressure, and meet deadlines;
  • Highly organized and detail focused;
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office ( Word, Excel, PowerPoint, E-Mail)
  • Must provide a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one.

Housekeeping Aide

Reporting to the Housekeeping Coordinator, the Housekeeper is responsible for the cleaning and sanitization of all Resident’s apartment and common areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • To clean areas according to assigned schedules using appropriate cleaning and sanitation methods and procedures
  • To clean Resident’s apartments and common areas, including furniture, kitchen and washroom fixtures, walls, ceilings, lights, vents and windows
  • To operate floor care machines and steam cleaning equipment
  • To strip, scrub, spray, and buff all carpet and non-carpet floor surfaces
  • To pick up garbage and transport to designated areas
  • To adhere to established residence policies and procedures, including safety rules and safe working practices
  • To prepare documentation as required according to residence policy
  • To be aware of the Resident Rights & Responsibilities and endeavor to respect and promote it
  • To attend in-service training as required in order to better serve the needs of the residents
  • To attend staff meetings as required to be aware of changes in Residence that have taken place
  • To participate in the Quality Improvement Program
  • To work in a position of trust with vulnerable adults (residents);
  • To uphold and promote the organization’s values and philosophy relating particularly to ethics, morality, and integrity as set out in Revera’s Code of Conduct;

Qualifications

  • Good oral and written English communication skills
  • Ability to provide feedback on a day-to-day basis
  • Knowledge and experience with standard institutional cleaning techniques
  • Previous experience in commercial / residential/ Healthcare cleaning and laundry procedures is desirable
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job
  • Proficiency in a second language is an asset

Assistant Cook

Reporting to the Director of Culinary Services/the Dietary Manager, the Assistant Cook is responsible for assisting the Cook in the preparation and delivery of all foods for residents, guests and employees.

Key Responsibilities

  • To prepare and/or be responsible for the preparation/delivery of all foods for residents, guests and employees;
  • To review menus and production sheets before preparing meals and prepare and serve them properly and attractively;
  • To ensure use of proper food handling techniques;
  • To complete daily temperature audits for fridge, freezers and storerooms and record findings on daily audit form;
  • To prepare and serve foods for therapeutic /specialty diets according to planned menus;
  • To assist in serving meals, following resident’s diet and food preferences using proper portion sizes;
  • To make menu substitutions as necessary and record these in designated place;
  • To follow daily production charts, standardized recipes and daily composite menus, while working within a set budget;
  • To assist in receiving and storing incoming food and supplies;
  • To participate actively in planning/preparing special occasion and theme meal days;
  • To attend department and facility staff meetings, in-services and other necessary training sessions;
  • To be aware of the Resident Rights & Responsibilities and endeavor to respect and promote it;
  • To participate in the Quality Improvement Program;

  • Red Seal Certificate preferred;
  • Must have experience in large quantity food preparation, preferably in a healthcare or retirement setting;
  • Must be knowledgeable of the Provincial Food Premises Regulation and Canada’s Food Guide to Healthy Eating;
  • Must have knowledge of and experience with special and therapeutic diets;
  • Must be physically able to lift and transfer heavy, hot items and stand for majority of shift;
  • Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.

Recreation Aide

Reporting to the Director of Recreation, the Recreation Aide assists in the planning, organization and implementation of meaningful programs for the residents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning, organization and implementation of meaningful programs for the residents, in collaboration with the Director of Recreation & Executive Director;
  • Assists with the maintenance of appropriate department records including assessments, evaluations of planned programs detailing individual participation, charting;
  • Maintains effective communication and good human relations with residents, families, volunteers and staff of other departments, keeping them informed of current and upcoming events;
  • Attends in-service education in order to keep informed of current trends in the total care of the elderly;
  • Participates in team meetings to plan programs with residents’ interest in mind;.
  • Facilitating residents to scheduled and pre-arranged outings;
  • Assisting with assessment of individual resident activity levels;
  • Preparing, carrying out and evaluating daily activities;
  • Assisting with meal services as required;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • College diploma in Recreation, Leisure Studies, Gerontology or equivalent is required;
  • Previous experience working with seniors;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook);
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • An energetic, compassionate person who enjoys working with the elderly;
  • Valid provincial driver’s license to transport residents by van (i.e.: Class 4; Class F).
  • Must provide a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one.
