Permanent Part Time Maintenance Worker- Handy Person

 

Greenvale Co-operative Homes is a 62 unit townhouse complex in central

St. Catharines funded by Niagara Regional Housing under the Housing Services Act.

 

We are hiring a Maintenance Worker for 21 hours per week, Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9am to 5pm (1 hour lunch break unpaid). Wage range $18 to $22/hr based on experience and qualifications.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Maintenance Worker will report directly to the Housing Manager and is responsible for the following duties and activities.

 

General:

  • Receive work orders from office and track them through HMWorx
  • Accompany trades people when required and consult with the Housing Manager
  • Perform emergency repairs as directed by the Housing Manager and Board

 

Routine Maintenance:

  • Complete work orders and repairs involving basic carpentry, minor plumbing, minor electrical, including drywall repairs, painting, cleaning and prepping units during unit turn-over.
  • Perform all preventative maintenance tasks on the preventative maintenance plan.
  • Perform regular outdoor site inspections and make repairs accordingly.
  • Lead and perform unit inspections with electronic inspections system as required.
  • Garbage clean-up and removal as required.
  • Yard work and snow removal as required.
  • Must be willing to work co-operatively with member volunteers.

 

Administrative:

  • Keep and maintain tool inventory and parts inventory.
  • Supply Housing Manager with a listing of supplies required for ordering.
  • Plan repair schedule to maximize time.
  • Receive materials and deliveries.
  • Perform such other related duties as directed by the Housing Manager or Board.

 

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of proven experience in residential building maintenance.
  • Ability to routinely lift as much as 100lbs, work on a ladder, standing, crouching or working on knees for extended periods of time.
  • Good communication skills, pleasant manner and able to work in a very diverse community.
