Full-Time CNC Machinist (1 Position)

Job Description

As a CNC Machinist you will work under the administrative direction of the Production Manager. Responsibilities include performing precision machining tasks with minimal supervision in the of manufacturing. Create programs, set-up and operate a variety of CNC machines and equipment to proof programs to extremely close and complex tolerances including CNC lathes, CNC mills. Fabricate component parts where set-ups are nonroutine and tolerances are difficult to acquire and maintain.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Set-up CNC and operate various types of CNC machines – Predominantly lathes and mills.
  • Mount, align and secure work holders, work, tool holder and attachments.
  • Manufacture production, prototype and experimental components in accordance with written work instructions.
  • Maintain AS9100/ISO quality control standards by verifying dimensions of machined parts according to drawings using tools such as; micrometers, vernier calipers, height gauges, optical comparators, CMM’s and other specific measuring equipment.
  • Identify non-conforming material and notify Manager immediately.
  • Change offsets as required to maintain process capability.
  • Read and understand G and M code for CNC programming.
  • Upload new programs and download existing programs onto proper media for storage.
  • Remove all tools and holders from previous jobs, clean and return to Tool Crib.
  • Indicate and align all tools, set all limits, variables, and load monitors.
  • Produce first-off part and submit to inspection for verification.
  • Assure that all gages and necessary documentation are in the work area.
  • Note all tool and insert changes.
  • Ensure effective production of quality parts by completing in-process and final checks using gauges and measuring equipment.
  • Ensure that all machining tasks are completed in accordance with specified run times.
  • Conduct minor preventative maintenance procedures as scheduled.
  • Operate any process in accordance with the procedures and set up sheets.
  • Support root cause investigations and preventative/corrective action analysis.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Manufacturing environment (e.g., military, aerospace) is an asset.
  • Knowledge of AS9100/ISO quality control standards and AS9102, aircraft industry requirements.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • College or trade school certificate an asset.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience with precision machining in a production environment operating CNC machines such as horizontal
    and/or vertical lathes and milling machines and or mill/turn machines.
  • Fully competent in the use of tools and gauges to inspect machined parts and features.
  • Ability to read and interpret blue prints drawings and specifications.
  • High competency and understanding of GD&T geometric tolerancing.
  • Must be comfortable in a fast paced work environment and possess good interpersonal skills.
  • Must be fully COVID-19 vaccinated.
