Full-Time Construction Labourer (1 Position)
Job Description
We are looking to hire a Construction Labourer.
Purpose of the Job
Carry out the essential functions and responsibilities as listed below in a consistent manner, accurately, timely, safely and at the lowest feasible cost to the company. Supervision will general be close.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
◦Studies blueprints, sketches, or building plans for information pertaining to type of material required, such as lumber or fiberboard, and dimensions of structure or fixtures to be fabricated.
◦Operate and maintain all power tools such as table saws, skill saws, jointers, compactors, welders, etc.
◦Read and interpret shop drawing and construction documents.
◦Selects specified type of lumber or other materials.
◦Prepares layout using rule, framing square and other appropriate equipment.
◦Layout and rough framing.
◦Install doors, frames and hardware, trims and cabinets.
◦Shapes materials to prescribed measurements, using saws, chisels, planes, power drills and similar hand tools.
◦Responsible for layout and installation of roofing members.
◦Instruct and mentor labourers in the skill of carpentry work.
◦Verifies trueness of structure with plumb bob, carpenters level and geometry.
◦Erects framework for structure and builds stairs.
◦Responsible for securing and returning various shop tools.
◦Setup and work with lasers.
◦Perform all duties in a safe manner.
◦Promote care of tools and equipment.
◦Troubleshoot.
◦All employees must be able to provide for transportation to jobsite.
◦Possess and maintain a current valid Driver’s Licence.
◦Form and pour concrete foundations.
◦Erect steel building system structural steel, siding, roofing and flashings.
Normal Expected Education and/or Practical Experience
◦High school diploma or GED
◦Preferred – Technical School Training
◦Previous carpentry experience
◦Experience with surveying equipment including levels, lasers, tape measures and transits
