Casual Cook (1 Position)
Job Description
Reporting to the Executive Chef this person will be responsible for both serving residents and for in-house kitchen and dining room assistance.
Responsibilities:
- Prepares meals to residents and guests in a professional and courteous manner.
- Based on menus, sets up equipment and supplies for food preparation. Assists in the preparation and plating of various items such as beverages, salads, desserts etc.
- Monitors quality of food supplies and proper operation of kitchen equipment and alerts supervisor to problems.
- Adheres to department policies and procedures for sanitation, safety and quality assurance. Assists with daily cleaning duties as scheduled.
- Is responsible for the unpacking and proper storing of food items.
- Follows and complies with health and safety legislation and departmental safe job procedures.
- Complies with all provincial regulations and established department policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Must possess a Food Handler’s Certificate.
- Preference will be given to mature individuals who have previous experience in the food service industry and working with seniors.
- Demonstrates an understanding of excellent customer service skills.
- Must be physically able to lift and transfer heavy, hot items and stand/walk for majority of shift.
- Flexibility with work schedule weekends, weekdays, holidays, mid day and evenings
