French Teacher for Preschool and Lower Elementary School

Pathways Academy and Early Learning Centre is an educational facility offering a blend of traditional and Montessori teaching methods in a small classroom setting. We have been providing quality education and care in Niagara for over 20 years.

Pathways is seeking energetic and enthusiastic French Teacher to support our classrooms for Toddler to Kindergarten, starting immediately.

To be considered for the position, the candidate must meet the following requirements:

  • Hold one of the following:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Education with OCT registration,
    • Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) or
    • Montessori Teaching Certificate
  • Fluent in the French language
  • Experience with organizing and conducting children’s concerts and plays
  • Experience working with children aged 18 months – 12 years old in a classroom setting
  • Interest in Montessori Pedagogy
  • Current First Aid and CPR C Certification – required
  • Valid Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable sector screening
  • Up to date Immunizations Records and Tuberculosis test
  • Display strong leadership and communication skills
  • Be able to take initiative and work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Professional, mature, warm, patient and nurturing
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in both French and English

 

Special Considerations will be given to candidates who:

  • Additional Qualifications in FSL
  • Have additional courses/training in child growth and development
  • Knowledge of CCEYA and experience with Quality Child Care Niagara Training
  • Experience working with children in a classroom – minimum 1 year

Hours of Work & Responsibilities to consider:

  • Monday – Friday; limited after school & weekends for training, school events and open houses
  • Participate in staff meeting & professional developments, as well as school events & fundraiser are mandatory
  • Supporting teachers in the classroom at times will be required
  • Conduct parent / teacher interviews and communicate with parents on a regular basis formally and informally
  • Writing progress reports and report cards
  • Ensure health, safety and all standards are met according to Ministry of Education licensing requirements.
