Our General Help and Lead Hand positions report to the Unit Manager and assists with the food services operations at Niagara College.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Exhibits a cheerful and helpful manner while greeting guests and preparing their orders.
  • Demonstrate and complete understanding of the menu items and explains them to guests accurately.
  • Uses of POS/cash register to record the order and to compute the amount of the bill. Collects payments from the guests and makes change.
  • Perform Cash procedure, accounting for all forms of money, during the shift.
  • Understands and adhere to proper food handling, safety and sanitation standards during food preparation, service and clean up.
  • Cleans and maintains all areas of the restaurant to promote a clean image.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and grooming standards.
  • Food handling experience is preferred.
  • Perform lite paperwork duties as assigned.
  • Ability to work in a team and independently.
  • Ability to stand long-term, bending lifting if required (ability to lift up to 20 lbs)
  • Must have professional attitude and appearance.
  • Professionally represent Compass Group and Niagara College with the utmost professionalism.
  • Resolves customer concerns and reports relevant information and concerns to Manager.
  • Maintains good working relationships with coworkers, customers and managers.
  • Performs job safely while maintaining a clean, safe work environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • At least one year of strong operation food industry management experience.
  • Knowledge of food service.
  • Strong supervisory skills and the capability to motivate and lead staff.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
