Job Description

The Parlour Inn is seeking applications for General Manager! The General Manager must possess proven innovative and entrepreneurial skills with the emphasis on all aspects of hotel operations. Individual must be proactive in order to meet the challenges of today’s market demands and economic climate.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Enforces and maintains property cleanliness and maintenance standards.
  • Greets and communicates with guests on a daily basis.
  • Communicates with managers and employees on a daily basis.
  • Administration of the hotel property including correspondence, application filing, financial reporting and execution of all internal documentation on a timely basis.
  • Prepares and implements business plan after Board’s approval. This includes input into marketing plan and annual budget.
  • Explains variances and produces action plans to rectify negative variances to budget.
  • Produces accurate forecasts and maintains forecasted productivity and payroll.
  • Maintains appropriate cost levels without compromising guest and employee satisfaction levels.
  • Ensures that staff evaluations are carried out on a timely basis.
  • Participates in executive, management and staff meetings.
  • Ensures proper employee certification as required by local laws.
  • Support company’s public relations philosophies and presents a charismatic personality at all times.

Professional Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree or international equivalent.
  • Minimum 4 years experience in the position of general manager of which at least 2 years in a “Four Diamond Hotel” or equivalent.

Personal Attributes:

  • Ability to use interpersonal methods to accomplish objectives through direct reports.
  • Must be able to sell, persuade or support staff, as each situation requires.
  • Ability to instruct and firmly implement the standards and goals of the Company.
  • Demonstrates the ability to be flexible to the ever-changing market environment. Responsiveness to these changes by effectively managing the change process with a positive approach.
