Full-Time HVAC and Engineering Supervisor (1 Position)

Job Description

The HVAC and Engineering Supervisor, under the direction of the Director of Engineering, will primarily be responsible for overseeing preventative maintenance and repairs of hotel and restaurant refrigeration and HVAC systems and equipment. This position will analyze HVAC operations and identify areas requiring improvement. This role will also perform repair carpentry, plumbing, painting and flooring for hotel and restaurants. The HVAC and Engineering Supervisor must be able to delegate, set expectations, and monitor progress of all direct reports and have a well-defined sense of diplomacy, including conflict resolution, and people management skills.

Job Duties:

– Install, maintain, and repair hotel and restaurant air conditioning systems, refrigeration systems, and combined heating, ventilation, and cooling systems
– Perform repair carpentry, plumbing, painting and flooring and preventative maintenance for hotel and restaurants
– Ensure all employees are performing duties in compliance with company policies and standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, safety, and complete and on-time delivery
– Analyse departmental operations and identify areas requiring improvement
– Accountable for troubleshooting, diagnosing, repairing, replacing, maintaining all facilities, property and equipment
– Ensure all persons are using the required personal protective equipment properly and at all times
– Perform scheduled preventative maintenance activities and recommend required maintenance action
– Administer disciplinary action in accordance with established procedures
– Complete building inspections
– Provide leadership for employee relations through effective communications, coaching, training, and development
– Handle employee complaints and incidents, including conflict resolution, accidents, health and safety concerns, work refusals, and investigations

Job Requirements:

– 5 years of experience with commercial refrigeration systems and equipment preferred
– Certified HVAC technician
– Certified G2 Gas Technician
– Experience in a supervisory role and experience in a related industry
– Ability to delegate, set expectations, and monitor progress of all direct reports
– A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including conflict resolution, and people management skills
– Ability to manage coordination efforts in construction projects with various parties, such as third-party contractors and skilled tradesperson
– Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations
– Demonstrated project management skills
– Ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands
