Job Description
POSITION: LIBRARY TECHNICIAN (FULL-TIME)
LOCATION: PUBLIC SERVICE
JOB SUMMARY: To provide readers’ advisory, information and reference service. To assist with collection maintenance and development. To provide programs, class visits and tours as assigned.
DUTIES: Provides readers’ advisory, information, and reference service. Assists with the maintenance and development of branch or departmental collections as assigned. Under the direction of the Manager or designate, schedules and delivers programs, conducts class or group visits and tours related to the activities of the Department or Branch and may assist with community outreach as required. Prepares displays, brochures, booklists, and other materials to promote services and library resources as assigned. May assist in providing direction to part-time staff and pages in the performance of daily routines as required. Performs other related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS: • Library Technician’s Diploma or equivalent
• Minimum two years relevant experience
• Knowledge of basic reference tools and research skills
• Knowledge of automated systems, electronic resources and the Internet
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work accurately and efficiently with minimum supervision
• Ability to organize programs
• Basic typing/keyboarding skills
HOURS OF WORK: Weekdays, evenings, and weekends as required. 70 hours bi-weekly
HOURLY RATE: $21.682 – $25.418 per hour (Pay Group 6, January 2018 schedule)
