Title: Lifeguard
Work Period: May to September
Full and Part time
Location: Byng Island
Pay Range: $15.50 to $15.75 per hour for over 18 years of age
Shifts: 10 and 8 hour shifts

Byng Island is a Conservation Area in Dunnville, Ontario and is recruiting for Lifeguard positions starting in the spring of 2020.
Reporting to the Park Superintendent the Lifeguards will assist in the preparation and painting, maintenance, lifeguarding and daily operation of the swimming pool.
Duties:
Ensure that all safety and NL standards are met at all times
Perform swim tests for children 9 years and younger to identify non-swimmers
Assist in the maintenance and cleanliness of the pool, pool deck, surrounding area, washrooms and change rooms
Have proficient knowledge of emergency procedures and use of equipment
Provide assistance to all guests/staff and ensure their safety at all times
Enforce pool and park regulations
Complete the daily pool log sheet, including pre-opening checks, pool maintenance and scheduled water checks
Responsible for reporting all incidents/accidents and concerns to the park superintendent or designate
Qualifications:
Must be currently enrolled as a full time student
Current National Lifeguard Certification or equivalent qualification required
Ability to demonstrate leadership skills and problem solving skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Must possess Valid First Aid and CPR certification
Familiar with the Grand River Conservation Authority and park policies
Ability to take initiative and work independently and within a team environment
Must be able to work weekends, evenings and holidays
All successful applicants must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and be available to work the duration of the season. The GRCA offers comprehensive health and safety training.
