The city of Port Colborne is currently accepting applications for a permanent full time Municipal Drain Technologist.  Reporting to the Drainage Superintendent, the Municipal Drain Technologist will demonstrate superior customer service skills with a strong work ethic, sound organizational skills, and good time management skills with the capacity to work well under pressure.

The Municipal Drain Technologist is responsible for conducting field surveys of Municipal Drains and working with the Survey/CAD Technologist on other City infrastructure and municipal properties as required.  The survey information collected is then used by the Municipal Drain Technologist to prepare drawings, in accordance with standard engineering practices. These plans will be used by the Drainage Superintendent and the municipalities appointed Engineer for the completion and updating of new Engineers reports.

The Municipal Drain Technologist will assist the Drainage Superintendent by; aiding in inspections of Municipal Drains when required, preparation of yearly maintenance assessment Schedules, invoicing of maintenance works to the affected watersheds, assisting with notifications as a requirement of the Drainage Act.

You have a 3 year College Diploma in Building Architectural, Civil or Structural Technology or equivalent. Additionally, you have 5 years experience in combination of Municipal Engineering, Construction Inspection and Ontario Land Surveying.  Your communication skills, attention to detail, conflict resolutions capabilities and ability to multi-task make you a preferred candidate for this position.

 

This position is a CUPE Local 155 unionized position.

Compensation: $33.48 per hour (40 hr. week) including pension and benefits as per collective agreement.
