Requirements:

Education/Experience
Post-secondary education in one or more of the following areas of study preferred
• Chemical or Chemical Engineering Technology or Diploma – highly preferred
• Chemistry – diploma or degree – preferred
• Quality
• Mechanical
• Electrical
• Technical
Additional Experience
• Previous experience in chemical, petrochemical, fertilizer, oil & gas plant operations – highly preferred
• Strong computer skills – preferred
• Previous experience in a manufacturing setting – asset
• Previous exposure in union environment – asset
• Background in mechanical trades – asset
• Forklift license – asset

Duties:

Responsibilities/Requirements
• Receive daily instruction from Lead hand, Production Manager through personal contact, email, and daily instruction log
• Ensure adequate sampling and testing is completed and documented to ensure high standard of quality control for finished products
• Operate the packaging and sack filling processes according to established operating procedures including the adjustment of bag weights, heat sealers, routing forklift checks and maintenance, calibration of metal detectors
• Ensure the operations are run efficiently and within specification including bag weights and pallet appearance
• Complete lock-out-tag-outs for the area
• Input Work Orders into the system
• Inspect, clean and wash production/process equipment
• Control or operate chemical processes or systems of machines, using panel boards, control boards, or semi-automatic or full automatic equipment
• Monitor instruments to ensure proper production conditions
• Test chemical or physical characteristics of materials or products. Collect samples of materials or products for testing
• Adjust equipment controls to regulate flow of production materials or products
• Confer with others to resolve production problems or equipment malfunctions
• Notify others of equipment repair or maintenance needs
• Communicate with Millwrights, Electricians, Supervision
• Adhere to all quality and safety policies and procedures
• Actively participate in Good Manufacturing Practices by maintaining cleanliness throughout the facility and perform general housekeeping duties as required
• Participate in meeting and committees as required
• Other miscellaneous duties as required.

Hours of work:

Permanent -Full time

Wage:

Start rate $29.21 – leading to $33.25+
