Job Description
Through funding made available by The CPRA Summer Work Experience Green Jobs Initiative, The Town of Pelham Recreation, Culture and Wellness Department are now accepting applications for the following summer position:
Park Ambassador (Seasonal Contract – June 25 to September 1 2018)
As the Town of Pelham is committed to reducing its environmental impact, the Park Ambassador will aid in reducing our carbon footprint caused by Town Events. The Town wants to encourage walking, biking, and the use of transit as alternative methods of transportation to reduce parking woes at events.
The successful candidate will support these initiatives and research alternative ideas to accomplish these goals. Duties will include sustaining the Green Zone tent at events while educating attendees on these values, supporting a bike valet and transit shuttle program, and interacting at the skate park as a facilitator for healthy activity while maintaining the park’s appearance.
The successful candidates should possess the following skills:
• Enrolled in an environmentally related program
• Strong interpersonal skills; capable of working with a diverse staff and community to achieve desired results professionally and efficiently.
• Be detail-oriented, independent, meticulous and thorough
The successful candidates must: (a) be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment; (b) have been registered as a full-time student during the preceding academic year; (c) intend to return to school on a full-time basis during the next academic year; (d) be a student in a secondary, post-secondary, vocational or technical program related to the corresponding position.
Salary: $15/per hour (30 hours per week)
