Full-Time Production Labourer/Threader (1 Position)

Job Description

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Machine Operator is responsible for operation and monitoring of multi-function process machinery. This position performs the process work and monitors production through control panels, computer terminals and other control systems. Machine operators may operate the following types of machinery; Hot Rotary Straightener, Hydro-static Tester and a CNC Lathe.

Job Requirements

Duties/Responsibilities/Procedures:

Essential Duties:

  • Operating multi-function processing machinery
  • Monitoring equipment operation, video monitors, gauges and equipment panel indicator lights to verify specified processing conditions, to make necessary adjustments and to detect deviations from standards
  • Performing start up and shut down of the production system in cases of emergency and to clear blockages and jams
  • Actively participating in problem-solving activities related to operation of equipment in the work area both on a preventive and a reactive basis
  • Assisting with machinery maintenance or repair
  • Working safely and ensuring safe practices are followed within all areas
  • Interpreting work orders and instructions to determine work assignments, process specifications and production schedules
  • Cleaning, lubricating and adjusting equipment and performing preventive maintenance activities
  • Adjusting controls in order to activate, set and regulate equipment according to specifications
  • Other duties as assigned for which he/she has received required training, possesses qualifications and/or is considered competent

Secondary Duties:

  • Recording gauges readings, test results and shift production in log books
  • Conferring with supervisors and operators in order to report equipment malfunctions and resolve production problems
  • Inspecting equipment to detect defects and wear
  • Assisting in the cleaning of machinery

Job Specifications:

Educational and Experience Requirements for this position:

  • Minimum of an Ontario Secondary School Diploma
  • A minimum of 5 years related work experience operating sophisticated equipment and machinery in an industrial setting
  • Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, statistics and their applications
  • Satisfactory criminal reference check in accordance with the clients policy

Shifts: currently on a weekly M.A.D. schedule. 6am to 2pm, 2pm to 10pm, 10pm to 6am. Shifts rotate weekly. Weekdays.

Must be able to work 12 hours Shifts. As eventually the company will revert to a 24/7 clock, so candidate must be prepared to work days, nights, weekdays and weekends.

Candidates must also be bondable.

Must have own transportation as this position is not on a public transit route.

Wage: $17/hr, overtime after 40hrs.
