PROGRAM COORDINATOR, YMCA KID FIT

YMCA Health, Fitness and Aquatic Branches – Niagara Region

Minimum Hiring Rate: $19.70/hr plus YMCA membership benefits

Contract position: maternity leave from June 25, 2018 to July 2019

Part time 20 hours per week

Availability Required: Days, evenings and weekends

NATURE AND SCOPE:

  • The Program Coordinator Kid Fit is responsible for the development and implementation of YMCA Kid Fit programs throughout all Health, Fitness and Aquatic Centres.
  • The incumbent will also be responsible for direct program delivery for a portion of their time.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Recreation, Children’s Studies or related field.
  • Group Fitness and/or Children’s Fitness Certification is an asset.
  • Experience delivering fitness based and recreational programs for children.
  • Understanding of the healthy development of children 3 to 12 years of age.
  • Experience developing and implementation curriculums.
  • Proven capacity to work as part of a team, and coach others.
  • Minimum 3 years related work experience.
  • Current Standard First Aid/CPR C.
  • A clear Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening [within 1 year from the date of issue].
  • Reliable transportation for travel throughout the Niagara Region.
  • Experience working or volunteering for the YMCA is an asset.
  • Able to physically participate in ongoing physical activity.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Relationship building, collaborating and effectively communicating with program partners.
  • Support the ongoing implementation of the YMCA Kid Fit Yoga and Kid Fit Cardio curriculums across all Health, Fitness and Aquatic Centres.
  • Delivery of staff training and implementation of measurement tools.
  • Purchasing of program equipment and management of the budget.
  • Meeting pre-established time lines and completing necessary grant reports.
  • Program monitoring, measurement and evaluation.
  • Work closely with the Child and Youth Program Coordinators in the branches.
  • Role models commitment and service excellence, through the direct delivery of quality programs.
  • Develop and sustain good member, volunteer, staff and partner relations on a daily basis.
    • Support with the human resource management of the staff/volunteer team in collaboration with Child and Youth Program Coordinators (recruitment/selection, training, coaching, performance management, recognition).
    • Demonstrates an appreciation and desire to generously serve all by planning and ensuring delivery of programs and services that meet member needs and YMCA standards.
    • Ensure curriculum and lesson plans are followed and that there is consistency in the Kid Fit program experience between the YMCA branches.
    • Program volunteer recruitment and retention.
    • Support program promotion, internal communication, sign up process, stats, waitlist, etc.
    • Support branch operations and association initiatives as required.
    • Understand and support YMCA philanthropic initiatives.
    • Monitor commitment to service excellence by role modelling and maintaining YMCA SAM 2.1 standards.
    • Demonstrate flexibility and an ability to adapt to situations as they arise.
    • Other responsibilities as they arise.
