Student Public Works Student (5 Positions)
Job Description
We are looking to hire 5 Public Works Students to work 40 hours per week.
Duties:
• Assists in maintaining City parks, gardens, playgrounds, and sports facilities including grass cutting, basic landscaping, and painting lines/hydrants.
• Assists in event set-up and tear-down.
• Assists in general janitorial duties, garbage removal and general maintenance.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
• Enrolled in full-time studies for the semester preceding the upcoming summer and returning to full-time studies in the following September (Proof of enrollment required).
• Ability to operate various landscaping/gardening equipment.
• Knowledge of and experience in landscaping, grass cutting, or horticulture is considered an asset.
• Strong customer service, organizational, and written and oral communication skills.
• Valid Class “G” driver’s license.
• Must be able to lift up to 50lbs and work in adverse weather conditions.
• Must be able to work 40 hours per week including days, evenings, weekends and holidays as required, from May to the end of August.
