JOB SUMMARY:
The Marriott on the Falls and Marriott Fallsview Hotel and Spa are seeking a Security Officer. The successful candidate is responsible for: insuring a safe environment for all guests and associates; documenting; reporting, and following –up on safety and security hazards or infractions. A security officer must demonstrate the ability to remain calm in emergencies, and balance excellent guest and associate relations skills with safety and security.
REPORTING TO:
Assistant General Manager, and works in a hotel setting.
RESPOSIBILITIES:
- To oversee all security for the both the Marriott Fallsview Hotel and Spa and Marriott on the Falls hotels.
- To make sure all hotels and restaurants are secure at all times by making frequent patrols of the buildings and grounds, write reports.
- Keep a daily shift pass log with accurate entries. Know and follow emergency procedures.
- Work closely with each Assistant General Manager at both properties ensuring all needs are met.
- Enforce parking security at all parking lots run by the Marriott Fallsview Hotel and Spa and Marriott on the Falls.
- Make sure all parking lots are secure from any thefts or damage to vehicles.
- Check all department areas to ensure proper areas are locked and secure.
- Check mechanical rooms to ensure all is secure.
- Deliver newspapers to guest floors.
- Demonstrate judgment, common sense and decision-making ability, particularly when required to take charge and direct others in emergencies or other incidents.
- Ensure that the Facilities Safety and Emergency Procedures are followed in response to Fire Alarms and other Site Emergencies.
HEALTH AND SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To work in a safe and healthy manner.
- To report any near missies, accidents or injuries.
- In case of an injury or accident prepare and fill out all necessary paperwork, including From 7 and accident investigation report.
- Maintain a safe work area by cleaning as you go and reporting defects of deficiencies.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Customer service oriented.
- Meticulous record keeping, report writing and observation skills.
- Empathetic, sensitive to cultural differences and diversity.
- Conflict resolution skills.
- Knowledge and applications of the Canadian Criminal Code of Canada: Trespass Act and other related legislation.
- Excellent verbal & written communications skills.
- Must act with professionalism and integrity.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & CERTIFICATIONS:
- CPR/First Aid Certified, Alcohol Awareness.
- Certified Protection Officer (CPO) preferred.
- Provincial Security Guard License required
- Valid Security Guard License
- 1-3 years of security experience.
