Camp Counsellor – Job Description

The TCAG Camp Counsellor is responsible for providing and over-seeing a Summer Camp Program, which offers quality leadership and supervision in an exciting camp setting for children between the ages of 5 and 10.

General Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean, safe and organized facility. All staff are responsible to clean and free of clutter at the end of each usage since our facility has multiple users.
  • Aid in creating and maintaining a positive work environment.
  • Promote the TCAG in a positive manner while promoting the Summer Camp Program.
  • Serve as an ambassador for the TCAG within operations and in the community at large.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Program planning and implementing a strong program to include arts and crafts, science, geography and history and physical fitness for weekly theme based activities.
  • Create the weekly program plans along with a detailed list of supplies for the entire Summer Camp Program.
  • Use his/her best efforts to maintain the high standards of education at the TCAG and will conduct themselves respectfully and professionally with students, co-workers and parents.
  • Actively lead and participate in all games and activities including pool time and trip days.
  • Agree to the ratios as stated, no exceptions, including for perceived special needs of any individual counsellors. You are responsible for delivering an exceptional camp experience for your entire group.
  • Required to deliver a consistent application of consequences in all areas of the camp program including before and after care, trip days and while attending the pool.
  • Supervision of campers at all times in all areas including bathroom, change rooms, trip venues and the pool.
  • Ensuring the safety and well-being of all campers, volunteers and co-workers at all times.
  • Attend all scheduled training and meeting sessions as scheduled.
  • Adhere to the TCAG written policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Post-Secondary training in a related field
  • Available for the entire summer July 2 – August 30, 2018 Monday to Friday 7:30am to 5:30pm
  • Available for all shifts ranging from 3 to 8 hours including an unpaid lunch according to the ESA
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Previous experience working with children and/or in a camp setting
  • Excellent time management, communication and organizational skills
