Partners Worldwide Canada -The Vision
We aspire to end poverty so that all may have life and have it abundantly.

The Mission
We mobilize long-term, hands-on global relationships to form a powerful Christian network that uses business as the way to create flourishing economic environments in all parts of the world.

Ending Poverty Through Business
Business is the most effective way to fight poverty. Around the world, we partner with locally-led organizations to support business growth and job creation so that people may be equipped to lift themselves—and their families and communities—out of poverty for good.

Partners Against Poverty
We work in partnership with others to achieve a world without poverty. We currently partner with over 70 Local Community Institution (LCI) partners in over 30 countries around the world. These partners collectively serve hundreds of thousands of entrepreneurs. We also partner with over 1,000 volunteer Business Affiliates (BAs) who serve in their own communities and abroad. When we say “Partners Worldwide,” we don’t mean an organization. We mean this global network where everyone is an equal partner, and that includes you.

Summary of Responsibilities
These two positions will be productive internships. This means that while the interns will provide a benefit to the organization, we will also focus on developing the interns in their experience, skills, knowledge and confidence as they prepare for professional employment.

Intern Development: We will help interns understand the nature of global poverty, challenges to traditional solutions, the role of enterprise development, learning leadership skills, and developing their personal and professional abilities. They will also learn the software used for our support systems: Grant Advance, Office 365, and Sales Force. If they already have some knowledge and abilities in this area, we will be able to assist them to further develop them.

Organizational Benefits: Interns will research needs related to specific countries and partnerships. They will work on finding appropriate granting agencies and potential partners for projects, submitting funding proposals. They will also help develop presentations (digital and other) that could be used in recruitment or fundraising. They will also plan an activity that could be held and executed once the restrictions on the COVID-19 pandemic are lifted and it becomes permissible. They will assist with some general office duties as well, which will introduce them to filing, book-keeping, and contact management.

Working Context: Interns will work both from the office and from home. On the average, it will be two days at the office and two days at home per week. However, should an intern choose, they may work at the office for the four days if their home situation is not conducive to productivity.

Supervisory Plan: Interns will be evaluated as to their performance and achievements in research, grant writing, event planning, office work and readings completed. There will be discussions to help improve and strengthen their abilities.

Mentoring Plan: Each intern will have a mentoring relationship with a staff member that will go beyond simple achievement of tasks but will also address personal and professional development beyond the day-to-day work. This will permit the internship to make a positive contribution to their life and development.

Partners Worldwide Canada is a Christian international development agency that is an equal opportunity employer. We are especially hoping to assist youth who might otherwise experience barriers to employment to gain positive work experience with personal and professional development to help them in their future careers. This includes (but is not limited to) youth who are new immigrants, indigenous, part of visible and other minorities or who may have physical handicaps.

Requirements
Successful candidates will have good:

  • communication skills (oral and written) in English
  • computer skills using Microsoft Office/Google Chrome and suite of software
  • internet and library-based research abilities
  • a willingness to learn and be mentored
  • ability to complete assigned tasks
