As a fully licensed Water Distribution-Wastewater Collection System Operator, you will perform a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: operation of equipment and attachments, locates, collection and analysis of established water quality tests, collection of water samples for lab analysis, participation in the Water on-call rotation and response to afterhours/weekend emergencies. You will be required to safely drive and operate heavy equipment with attachments and perform strenuous, physical labour in the installation, repair and maintenance of the water distribution and/or wastewater collection systems, assist with reports and documentation.
You are required to have a Ministry of Environment Certification in Water Distribution & Wastewater Collection Class 2, a DZ license, superior judgement, interpersonal skills, valid and current Basic First Aid, CPR and secondary school diploma, or equivalent. You are required to have a minimum of one-year experience working with municipal water/wastewater services, working with equipment and performing maintenance related duties; or equivalent. (at a minimum you have a Ministry of Environment Certification in Water Distribution & Wastewater Collection Class 1 and the intent to obtain your Class 2 certification).

PLEASE NOTE: Consideration may also be given to candidates who possess significant water-waste water works experience and/or underground locating experience and are certified as a Damage Prevention Technician (DPT) through the Ontario Regional Common Ground Alliance (ORCGA) and have a willingness to obtain an Operator-in-training certification in Water Distribution & Wastewater Collection with the intent to obtain a Class 2 certification.

This is a full time union position based on 40 hours per week with an hourly rate of $29.75 per hour and a competitive benefit and pension package.

Requirement to be on-call is approximately every six weeks and compensation when on-call is 3 hours per day and 3.5 hours on weekends at rate of pay.
