Apatisiwin Employment & Training Coordinator

18 Month Full Time Contract

Responsibilities:
The Coordinator is responsible for managing the employment and training program of the Niagara Regional Native Centre. The Apatisiwin Program is an employment and training program designed to provide supportive services to the Indigenous community members of the Niagara Region, seeking employment and training. Knowledge of Indigenous community and history is crucial to supporting the Friendship Centre movement.

Qualifications:

  • 3 -5 years of related experience in the employment and training sector
  • Knowledge of the employment and Labour Market environment in the Niagara Region
  • Experience in Client assessments for eligibility and needs
  • Experience in contract management
  • Experience in report writing
  • Experience in budget management
  • Excellent knowledge of other related mainstream and Indigenous providers
  • Experience networking and liaison with the employment sector
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Knowledge of the challenges and barriers the Urban Indigenous population faces
  • Experience working with the Indigenous population
  • Group facilitation skills
  • Valid driver license and a reliable vehicle a must
  • Current CPIC for the Vulnerable Sector
