Part-Time Assistant Floral Manager/Administrator (1 Position)

Job Description

As an assistant branch manager, you help to plan, organize, and lead a retail floral location, to create quality seasonal arrangements using design and display strategies to drive sales. It is your job to design floral arrangements for a variety of campaigns, price them accurately, and make sure all merchandise is stored properly and rotates based on store policy. Other duties include maintaining records of invoices, receiving, and waste control, and achieving department merchandising goals in cooperation with your manager, and buyers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

-Oversee all income streams including online, in person, and phone orders

-Increase average sales by offering education based guidelines, and upsells (balloons, chocolates, crystals, plush toys)

-Maintain tight timelines for fulfilling customer orders and delegating deliveries

-Proficient in inventory ordering/management, both fresh products and dry goods

-Understand and meet company quality control requirements

-Proper flower handling practices including processing and rotation

-Flower processing and cooler maintenance

-Basic knowledge of plants, such as succulents, orchids, tropicals, air plants, bulbs, etc.

-Negotiate event consultations, quotes, and financials

-Manage off site installations and set ups for weddings and events

-Merchandising skills

-Develop cost effective arrangements with associated recipes, in appropriate price points, to be integrated into our catalogue

-Evolve new ideas through floral trends and create custom flower arrangements for all kinds of occasions such as Funerals, Christmas, Valentines, Weddings, Everyday, etc.

-Workshop development and implementation, including concept design, and overseeing

-Communicate standards of excellence to employees

-Reinforce safety standards, both on and off site

-Training and scheduling junior staff

-Daily financial reconciliation

Must have a minimum of 5 years floral design experience. Previous flower shop management an asset.

Must be physically capable of unloading floral and hard goods deliveries and lifting up to 50lbs.

This position is approximately 20 hours per week with guaranteed extra hours during major holidays (Christmas, Valentines, Mothers Day, Thanksgiving, etc) and wedding season.

Occasional assistance with delivery required, clean driver’s record necessary.
