Full-Time Chief Refrigeration Mechanic (Multiple Positions)
Job Description
A food manufacturing company is looking for skilled labourers to join their team.
Job Responsibilities:
- To maintain and make repairs on the refrigeration components of the plant in accordance with accepted standards.
- Take ownership of plant refrigeration system. Scheduling all needed repairs, ensuring PM’s are completed on time, coordinating with outside contractors for necessary repairs and inspections, coordinating with maintenance B-Operators across multiple shifts.
- Ensure the operations of the plant and power systems are in accordance to the T.S.S.A. standards at all times.
- Complete and maintain proper record keeping for all work done on the system. Including completion of MOC’s, and inspection records.
- To respond quickly to any calls from production to keep refrigeration equipment operational and ensure production runs smoothly.
- To receive and complete refrigeration work orders and preventative maintenance work orders when assigned by Maintenance Team Leader.
- To sign and date all completed work orders and PM’s to record all problems or observations that should be brought to the Team Leaders attention.
- Assist with developing maintenance programs to help improve the operations and conditions of equipment
- Ensure all work performed complies with governing practices, codes and regulations.
- Report to the spills action center any refrigeration leaks.
Job Requirements:
- Basic knowledge in welding, machining, electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics, drafting, and blueprint reading.
- Knowledge of Ammonia based refrigeration system required.
- Any of the following would be a definite asset:
- Industrial Refrigeration/Air Conditioning Mechanic License
- ODP ticket
- Gas Tech Level 2
- Ammonia Refrigeration System experience or knowledge of Ammonia based systems
- Must be able to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-starter with a positive attitude, honest and strong work ethics, able to work with minimal supervision.
- Creative and quick decision maker with a focus on preventive maintenance.
- Excellent verbal, written communication and computer skills…. Excel, Word, Email, etc.
- Trouble Shooting Skills.
- Grade 12 Education
- “A” Refrigeration Operators Ticket or Stationary Engineer Level 2.
Work Conditions:
- Obey and observe all safety rules, GMP rules, & Food Safety Procedures including HACCP, WHMIS, MSDS, Lock-out, Tag-out.
- Keep work area clean & orderly.
- Team work is an essential part of this position.
- Must be comfortable to occasionally work in confined spaces
- Some of the work will be on roof top equipment, exposed to extremes in weather
- Occasionally must work in refrigerated areas with temperatures as low as -40 degrees F.
- The ability to work overtime and regular and consistent attendance are essential functions of this position.
- Must be able to perform various skills associated with the trade.
- Must be able to climb ladders and stairs.
- Lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Push/pull tool boxes weighing as much as 200 pounds
Wage: $39.41/hr
