Location: Niagara West YMCA (Grimsby), Niagara Centre (Welland)
Pay:
$15.50/ hour plus YMCA Membership 
Employment Type: Monday :
Thursday Mornings (9:00am – 12:00pm), Part-time 0-15 hours per week

 NATURE & SCOPE

The role of the Child Minding Team Member is to work and care for children 0-6 months to while parents are exercising in the facility.

 RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Provide appropriate care and support for babies and children including diaper changes as needed.
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm, flexibility, and willingness to learn.
  • Take accurate attendance, ensuring participants are signed into and out of the program.
  • Provide excellent supervision for participants while in the care of the YMCA.
  • Set up and take down recreational, program and other equipment as required.
  • Ensuring that equipment is safe and in good repair. Ensures program areas are clean, organized, and safe for everyone’s use.
  • Actively participate in scheduled programs, meetings, and special events.
  • Regularly demonstrate strong customer service, decision making and communication skills.
  • Communicate and promote other YMCA program opportunities to families as appropriate.
  • Strive to form a positive relationship with participants and families. Recognize and greet participants by name.
  • Ensure established practices related to payment or active membership are followed.
  • Be accessible to parents and participants to answer questions and responds to concerns.
  • Responsible for the safety and security of children in your care at all times, following the YMCA Child Protection policies and practices.
  • Follow YMCA Healthy Child Development Principles when developing program plans and interacting with children.
  • Work as a member of a team of staff and volunteers to offer quality program experiences for children.
  • Participate with the children in a positive and supportive manner taking into consideration each child’s uniqueness.
  • Communicates participant progress with parents, focusing on their accomplishments.
  • Other duties as required. 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Experience working with young children.
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR[C].
  • A clear and satisfactory criminal reference check inclusive of the vulnerable sector search (CRC VSS) issued for the YMCA of
