COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT COORDINATOR

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily operational support to our thrift store (Nearly New Store, located at 4311 Queen Street, Niagara Falls), including volunteer recruitment/training/scheduling, retail operations support, sales tracking and risk management.
  • Design and execute a variety of recruitment initiatives to support the programming and operational needs of the agency, such as event volunteers, mentoring volunteers and client recruitment. Prepare project plans on an annual basis and complete evaluation reports to determine impact.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with new/existing community partners and stakeholders. Attend community events/fairs/engagements. Create presentations and complete outreach to elevate the community’s knowledge and recognition of BBBS’s mentoring programs and services.
  • Lead the team on the agency’s volunteer recognition and retention initiatives.
  • Provide support to the Fundraising and Event Coordinator as required, and support the efforts of maintaining contact with BBBS alumni.
  • Assist the Casework team with new volunteer inquiries including information sessions and data entry. Maintain accurate casenotes detailing interactions with potential and current volunteers.
  • Utilize Microsoft 365 software to support administrative functions of the role (e.g. email, spreadsheets, statistics). The ability to provide digital support through the creation of content and/or formatting of our agency publications, such as newsletters, reports, and marketing materials would be considered an asset.

Qualifications:

  • Successful candidate will have at minimum a diploma or degree in a related field. Experience within a social service or non-profit setting and/or education background from a social services field would be considered assets.
  • Must be driven to succeed, creative, and possess a problem-solving/forward-thinking attitude to meet the needs of the changing non-profit landscape.
  • Effective communication skills (both oral and written), exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain long-term relationships.
  • Belief in and commitment to the vision and mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters.
  • Strong computer skills, with ability to utilize Microsoft Software (365/Dynamics/Teams/Office/EXCEL).
  • Recent Vulnerable Sector Police Check and access to a reliable insured vehicle.

Estimated Start Date:  November 8th, 2021 (or as soon as possible thereafter)

Salary: $35,100 – $40,950 per year

Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week. The successful candidate will work between the Nearly New Store and BBBS office locations, but the role will also take the candidate to non-standard workplaces. This role will often require evenings, weekends and the ability to work flexible hours in order to represent the organization at community events.
