Stolk Construction is currently recruiting an experienced Construction Labourer who shares our mission and principles.  Their overall responsibilities will be to perform a variety of onsite construction tasks in an effort to assist with project completion, on time and within budget.  An ideal candidate for this role will possess:

  • 3+ years of successful labourer experience within the construction industry
  • Willingness to continually develop
  • An ability to effectively develop strong relationships with fellow team members
  • Strong communication and listening skills
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency
  • Ability to work well individually and as part of a team

Position Type: Full Time Permanent

As a Labourer your role is to oversee the functions noted in bold below.  A summary of responsibilities within each function are also outlined.

Safety

  • Ensure all safety requirements are followed and met, striving for zero safety incidents
  • Abide by the Stolk Construction H&S Manual, as well as the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations for Construction Projects
  • Report any jobsite injury and/or illness in an immediate manner to the appropriate Supervisor and/or Director of Operations

Knowledge of Work and Ability

  • Understand your role and responsibilities as they relate to a specific project
  • Advise General Foreman / Supervisor onsite of any tasks you are being asked to perform that you are untrained in
  • Take advantage of opportunities to learn from those onsite
  • Maintain a can-do attitude

Quality

  • Ensure the proper level of quality is maintained while also attaining the outlined timelines of the task
  • Communicate material and equipment needs to the General Foremen / Supervisor in a proactive manner
  • Track and properly manage all company tools and equipment assigned to you
  • Follow instruction in an effort to complete tasks correctly the first time
  • Be open minded to coaching and development opportunities
  • Submit accurately completely paperwork in a timely manner

Communication

  • Detailed, on-going, timely communications with General Foreman / Supervisor

Physical Demands:

This job requires you to:

  • Be able to lift 66lbs
  • Kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl and sit
  • Be able to stand, walk, talk, hear, see and smell
  • Be exposed to extreme heat and cold; fumes or airborne particles
  • Be able to distinguish colours
  • Be exposed to differing noise levels from moderate to loud
  • Hearing requirements include the ability to hear alarms on equipment, client calls and instructions

    • At times the facilities in which we work can be warm, noisy and wet
