THIS A TEMPORARY POSITION FOR APPROXIMATELY SIX MONTHS

Summary:
The successful applicant will represent the St. Catharines Economic Development Office to provide digital media/digital marketing support for participating Business Improvement Areas (BIAs) and business associations in St Catharines for its Digital Main Street (DMS) initiative.

Duties include:

• Work one-on-one with participating main street businesses to provide one-on-one support for the adoption of digital tools and technologies to help the development and growth of local main street small businesses.
• Utilize digital tools and technologies to help businesses start their digital transformation journey.
• Act as an ambassador for the Digital Main Street program and explain how participation provides value to the growth and sustainability of their business.
• Responsible for scheduling visits and travelling to participating BIAs.
• Responsible for communicating and working together with management and representatives of participating BIAs while providing regular updates on project progress.
• Advisory Services
o Interact with numerous businesses and communicate patiently and effectively to drive out business requirements and needs.
o Once the business has been on-boarded to the Digital Main Street platform, walk through the on-line Digital Assessment and Recommendations with the business owner.
o Assist the business owner in identifying their first priorities and the first digital tools/technology they want to activate.
o Attend training, workshops and events related to Digital Main Streets.
• Activation/Implementation Services
o Activate and implement free, easy-to-use digital tools and technologies that support mainstreet businesses.
o Provide resources (training, articles, links, how-to guides) available through secondary sources that can help business owners learn more about a particular tool that has been activated, or subject matter of interest.
• Reporting and Feedback
o Complete field notes, enter data into the Digital Main Street online portal, and provide weekly reports and updates to the Director of Economic Development & Tourism Services and participating BIAs.
o Attend Team Meetings as set out by the Director of Economic Development & Tourism Services.

Position Requirements:
• Enrolled in full-time studies, or recently completed a two (2) year College Diploma in a related field.
• Two (2) years’ experience in a sales or marketing environment.
• Previous experience with online and offline marketing is considered a strong asset.
• Previous experience working with small businesses in BIAs is considered an asset.
• Experience with digital technologies for small business (website, social media, e-commerce, etc.).
• Exceptional project management skills with the ability to multi-task and handle multiple and conflicting priorities.
• Proven organizational and time management skills.
• Professional, proven customer service skills, well developed interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email and online collaboration software.
• Ability to manage and co-ordinate the work of team members working on the project.
• Ability to travel and work independently in various BIA’s and other business locations in St. Catharines.
• Valid Ontario Driver’s license, Class “G”, with a clean driving record.
• A demonstrated commitment to enhancing a safety culture.

Hourly Rate: $24.79 per hour
Hours of Work: Monday through Friday, 8:30AM – 4:30PM
