Full-Time Farm Lead Hand for Outdoor Flower Crops (1 Position)
Job Description
This is a full time and year round position for a large greenhouse grower in St. Catharines. The successful candidate will be working outdoors in the summer and fall harvesting field grown flowers. In the spring and winter, full time work will be available in the greenhouse.
Job Duties include:
-Supervise and managelabour crews of 12-16 people so that jobs are cost effective, efficient, and completed on a timely basis
-Managing all aspects of Summer and Fall hand picked harvest
-Able to work extended hours and weekends when required
-Able to multi task and work under pressure
-Strong observation, troubleshooting, and analytical abilities
-Lead and Assist with a variety of projects around the farm as required
-Operating Farm Equipment and tools as needed
-Assist with maintenance of equipment
Qualifications/Requirements:
-Supervisory experience
-Farm experience
-Must be hard working, self motivated, able to follow directions, and be able to work independently
-Committed, willing to learn, strong work ethic and a positive attitude
-Own transportation –no public transportation available
Preferred but not essential skills:
-Background in greenhouse operations
-Growers Pesticide Spray License
-DZ or AZ licence
-Forklift licence
