Job Description

The Friends of Fort George is offering high school, college and university students a summer job like no other.  Soldiers at Fort George bring the site to life for thousands of visitors from all over the world.  Being a member of the drill squad at Fort George is a fun and rewarding summer experience. When you start, you will be part of team that is issued with historic uniforms and trained in front of the public through repetitive practice of the elements of the job. Squad members learn to march and fire muskets and do a variety of performances for the public throughout the day.

As a “soldier” at Fort George you will be required to wear a woollen uniform, carry and fire a musket, do brief bits of running and kneeling and spend a fair bit of time on your feet during the day. 


Job Qualifications:

– Must be a full time student
– Comfortable wearing period clothing
– Availability throughout the summer
– Able to work weekends
– Must be 16 years of age

This job is created through the Canada Summer Jobs program and is grant dependent.
