Full-Time Fort George Retail Associate
Job Description
The retail associate would work under the supervision of the Executive Director to help with the day-to-day activities of The Friends of Fort George book/gift shop. While not generally perceived as a job within the delivery of heritage programming, the individual will connect with the majority of visitors who come to Fort George. In the comfortable, retail surroundings he/she will have an opportunity to welcome national and international visitors to the site, community and country and providing overviews of Canada’s cultural heritage.
The individual would carry out retail responsibilities including serving customers, stocking shelves, store maintenance, product display and daily cash balancing. As the store’s product line (e.g. books, souvenirs, etc.) is related to the site, store personnel must be versed in the site’s history and related events. The store is located among the military buildings and therefore visitors take the opportunity to ask questions regarding military and social activities which occurred in 1812.
Job Qualifications:
– Must be a full time student
– Availability throughout the summer
– Able to work weekends
– Must be 16 years of age
