Full-Time Health and Safety Officer (1 Position)
Job Description
Job Gym is assisting a local Fort Erie manufacturer to recruit Health and Safety Officer candidates.
Wage: $25 per hour
Hours: Full-time
Functions and Responsibilities
- Compliance with company safety requirements.
- Develop and execute H&S plans according to legal guidelines.
- Prepare and implement health and safety strategies and develop internal policy.
- Responsible for changes to working practices that are safety and comply with legislation.
- Evaluate practices, procedures and facilitates to assess risk, implement strategies to reduce risks, recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities, prevention measures.
- Outline safe operational procedures which identify and take account of all relevant hazards.
- Carry out regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented.
- Leading in house training with managers and employees regarding health and safety issues and risks.
- Investigate incidents and accidents to discover causes and handle worker’s compensation claim. Produce reports that suggest improvements and statistics for employer. Keep records of inspection finding.
- Keeping up to date on legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all health and safety legislation, ESA and any developments that affect the employers’ industry.
- Manage all fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safe guarding of machinery and occupational diseases.
- Other related responsibilities which may arise.
Requirements
- Proven experience as safety officer, knowledge of H&S Act
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities
- Good knowledge of data analysis and risk management
- BSc/BA in safety management or relevant field is preferred
- Valid qualification in occupational health and safety
- Experience in the manufacturing industry
