POSITION TITLE: Concierge

ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE

Under the direction of the executive Director, is responsible for the efficient and administrative of the Grand Canal Guest and Resident experience. while maintaining and performing a variety of tasks in a busy resident area.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participates in, and contributes to, the Grand Canal quality experience program.
  • Prepares for resident move ins, handling problems. Creating memorable experience.
  • Handling tours when needed.
  • Direct any resident request and maintenance issues.
  • Directs requests for marketing tours to appropriate staff and conducts tours as required.
  • Other duties requested by executive Director.
  • Maintains resident request.
  • Attend and maintain reception area.
  • Always keep the main floor/lobby tidy and tour ready.
  • Ensures supply are ready and in place for craft kitchen.
  • Enters resident miscellaneous charges if needed.
  • Prepares daily updates for Executive Director.
  • Maintains and updates the resident call bell system/FOB system entering admissions/discharges as required.
  • Maintain resident FOB key system.
  • Types letters, resident notices, activity schedules and other documents, as required.
  • Answers the telephone and directs calls in a professional, courteous manner.
  • Handles multiple requests for residents and assigns duties to appropriate departments.
  • Performs photocopying, faxing and filing requests as required.
  • Prepares and receives courier packages.
  • Updates all daily, weekly and monthly residents’ list and distributes accordingly.
  • Updates and maintains staff contact list/resident admissions and discharges accordingly.
  • Distributes all incoming mail, packages, and deliveries for entire community.
  • Co-ordinates outgoing mail.
  • Regularly reviews entry and exit points visually and/or through desktop monitors.
  • Calls residents to confirm doctor appointments, beauty salon, taxi, podiatrist, guest meals, and arrival of medications.
  • Presents a positive company image and maintains positive communication with other staff, residents, families and the public.
  • Participates in meetings, in-services programs as arranged by the site.
  • Ensures that the Concierge desk and surrounding area is kept clean and tidy.
  • Ensures all common areas around Concierge desk including Bistro is clean, maintained and fully supplied at all times. To ensure the areas are tour ready at all times. Will also be reporting to Sales Consultant of status daily.
  • Complies with Occupational Health & Safety Act, Workplace Hazardous Material Information systems.  This includes recognizing health and safety hazards, reporting incidents, fulfilling responsibilities under the applicable legislation, as well as participating in in-services and fire drills.
  • Complies with all corporate policies and procedures.
  • Completes all required mandatory training/education.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or delegated by the Executive Director/Business Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent Hospitality and communications skills. Customer comes first attitude.
  • Minimum grade 12 education with some experience or education in the areas of guest service and administration. Demonstrates leadership and problem solving skills.
  • Meticulous in appearance, cleanliness and good hygiene is required as the Concierge is the “Face” first impressions of the Grand Canal.
  • Vulnerable Persons Sector Police Check current and acceptable upon application
  • TB Test & Physician Fitness Statement
  • MOL ( Ministry of Labour ) Occupational Health & Safety Certificate
  • Valid First Aid & CPR Certificate an asset
  • Safe Food Handler’s Certificate an asset
  • Smart Serve an asset
  • Computer Technology skills required
  • Sales background an asset

POSITION TITLE: Housekeeping/Laundry Attendant

ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE

Under the direction of the environmental services manager is responsible for performing housekeeping tasks in an efficient manner, with due consideration for the needs and comfort of the residents. Some laundry and dietary tasks may be required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participates in, and contributes to, the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) program.
  • Performs daily and weekly cleaning and vacuuming of resident suites as required in accordance with established procedures, schedules and job routines.
  • Experienced laundering with care, residents linens, towels and personal laundry
  • Cleans all offices, staff room, common areas, resident laundry rooms, washrooms, hallways and stairwells according to established policies, procedures and schedules.
  • Replenishes paper supplies and hand soap as required.
  • Provides general assistance to residents as required.
  • Ensures all carpet areas are stain free.
  • Completes audits as assigned.
  • Performs additional cleaning as required, in accordance with established procedures and schedules.  Washes walls, ceilings, lights, vents, fans, appliances, insides and tops of windows, door frames and all wall hangings.
  • Picks up and disposes of garbage from waste containers daily.
  • Ensures housekeeping room, closets, equipment and carts are kept in a clean, safe and sanitary condition.
  • Assists with setting up residents’ continental breakfast as required.
  • Participates in applicable staff meetings and in-service training within the home.
  • Performs laundry duties as necessary.
  • Maintains effective communication, both written and verbal with co-workers.  Uses the appropriate lines of communication with supervisory staff.
  • Complies with all relevant corporate policies and procedures.
  • Completes all required annual training/education.
  • Complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, and Workplace Hazardous Material Information System.  This includes recognizing health and safety hazards, reporting incidents, fulfilling responsibilities under the applicable legislation, as well as Participating in in-services and fire drills.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the environmental services manager.

BACKGROUND/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum grade 10 education.
  • Must be able to follow oral and written instructions in the English language.
  • Needs visual acuity to ensure cleaning tasks are performed to standards.
  • Must be physically able to perform the duties and withstand long periods of standing.
  • Experience in a long-term care or retirement home setting in a housekeeping department will be given preference.

POSITION TITLE: RPN

ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE

Responsible for the efficient operation of the Health and Wellness Department.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reporting to Director of Wellness, the incumbent will be responsible for serving the needs of the clients, within the scope of practice. This includes:
  • Participated in assessing the need of individual residents and organizes for the provision of care to promote maximum independence
  • Carries out planned assignments as designated by the Director of Health and Wellness for effective resident care, taking into account the physical, spiritual, social and emotional need of the individual.
  • Maintains client records and required documentation in accordance with policies and procedures and legislative requirements.
  • Interprets and adheres to company policies, procedures, practices and philosophies.
  • Manages medications as prescribed and observes changes in condition and reports them on the personal charts and to the Client Services Manager. Monitors the safekeeping of drugs and narcotics, and ensures narcotic count is correct.
  • Assists in maintaining a clean, safe environment for residents and personnel.
  • Participates in orientation and in-service programs and on standing committees as assigned by the Client Services Manager.
  • Liaises with family members and acts as a resource for questions, concerns regarding practices or related health care issues. Reports family concerns to the Client Services Manager and other staff.
  • Maintains effective communication and good interpersonal relations with medical and allied staff, clients, families and other departments.
  • Reports unusual occurrences, safety hazards or illness or problems with clients to the Supervisor.
  • Participate as a member of the multi-disciplinary team, in the development and implementation of plan of care for residents that supports independence
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

BACKGROUND/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Maintains a current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses Ontario (CNO )
  • Knowledgeable of the Health and Safety regulations.
  • Experienced in geriatric or retirement residence.
  • Valid First Aid and CPR Certificate and maintain in good standing
  • Good written and verbal English skills.
  • Vulnerable Persons Sector Police Check current and acceptable upon application
