AVAILABLE POSITIONS

ACCOUNTANT ASSISTANT

The role of the Accountant Assistant will last over four months, for the duration of the semester, fulfilling all required Co-op hours. They will report to the Accounting Clerk and the Executive Management team. The Accountant Assistant will assist the Accounting Clerk in all accounting duties during the off-season and operational season for Safari Niagara. The main responsibilities of the Accountant Assistant are cash handling, balancing, reconciling, recording, and paying invoices. The Accounting Assistant will be accountable for all cash floats, creating cash safes for departmental managers, and fulfilling all petty cash requests. Lastly, the Accounting Assistant will work directly with the HR and Events Coordinator in the onboarding of all 150+ employees for the operational season, ensuring their information is input into Computime and Ceridian for their payment, and reconciling all hours worked each pay period.

Job Duties

  • Creating and Balancing Safe Contents
  • Allocate money to all safes before the opening of the park
  • Communicate the safe balancing to all managers and hold them accountable to balance safe weekly and report any discrepancies to the Accounting Clerk
  • Balance the office and petty cash safe as required, when it is accessed

Cash Counting

  • Count all cash in the morning, reconciling with the POS system Aluvii to ensure all cash received matches reports
  • Communicate any discrepancies with management to find solutions
  • Complete, date and accurately file all supporting documentation slips for cash counting
  • Ensure all relevant safes are reconciled at the end of counting
  • Create 40+ cash floats for use of managers
  • Deposit all excess cash in the appropriate safe with the appropriate paperwork

Cash Floats

  • Allocate the appropriate cash floats to managers daily
  • Hold managers accountable for returning cash bags regularly, with all relevant receipts and details inside the cash bag

Pick Up and Deposit Cash

  • Pick up any petty cash request from the bank as needed
  • Deposit cash at the bank with the appropriate slips

Petty Cash

  • Stay up to date on the requirement of Petty Cash Request for the Administration Office and all managers
  • Ensure the office safe is always stocked with Petty Cash for office and managerial use
  • Hold managers accountable for reconciling their Petty Cash
  • Ensure the office Petty Cash float is balanced each time it is accessed

Onboarding Employees

  • Work with the HR and Events Coordinator and the Accounting Clerk to input all employees into Ceridian, Computime, and time clocks to ensure correct payment
  • Assist managers and Accounting Clerks in correcting all hours worked for employees each pay period
  • Hold managers accountable for filing the correct hours owed to employees if required
  • Ensure all employees have downloaded and are successfully using Ceridian

Payables

  • File all invoices on orders and shipments from all departments in Safari Niagara
  • Record and organize all invoices
  • Input all invoices into SAGE and update when they are paid
  • Compile all monthly invoices and all relevant and requested paperwork and submit them to the executive manager for sign-off
  • Complete all payables by the specified date, and file them in the proper locations

CENTRAL STORES OPERATOR

Central Stores Operator will ensure the smooth day-to-day operations of the Food Services division by receiving all shipment goods associated with Food Services. This person must deliver all requested items associated with food services to the five food locations; Meremebe, Red Parrot, Rowdy Rhino, Funky Monkey and Food Zone; as well as the snacks areas; Koool Stop and Gift Shop.  As this individual is regularly travelling through the park, they must be aware of all park locations, activities, and offerings as to accurately answer guest questions. Must be outgoing and enjoy working with the public and possess the ability to adapt to changing weather. Shipping and receiving experience are considered an asset as well as a previous customer’s service experience.

Job Duties

  • Receive and store all goods associated with F&B operation of the park, ensuring that the highest level of food safety is practiced at all times (FIFO etc.…)

This person may work at any of the designated food areas including; Merembe, Funky Monkey, Red Parrot, and Rowdy Rhino. HORTICULTURIST

The Horticulturist position will take place over the semester and fulfill all required co-op hours. This position directly reports to the Nursery and Greenhouse Manager and will assist them with their duties, including opening and closing the Nursery and Greenhouse, training staff in the Nursery and Greenhouse departments, and aiding with all daily duties relating to POS functions and sales. The Horticulturist will provide customers with advice on all Nursery and Greenhouse products including soils, fertilizers, perennials, annuals, topicals, vegetables and trees. This position will address all customers concerns and complaints with a positive attitude that reflects our company culture. The Horticulturist will merchandise all products and upsell products to increase sales volume. The Horticulturist will gain expertise in the field by working alongside the Nursery and Greenhouse Manager and overseeing all related horticultural operations.

FARM ATTENDANT

As a member of Safari Niagara’s team, the Papa Steve’s Farm Attendant/Budgie House Attendant must possess a commitment to deliver outstanding quality and results providing personal accountability in all their actions as a representative of Safari Niagara. This position regularly interacts with the public, and must possess accurate knowledge of all Papa Seve’s Farm animals as well as the budgies, and field any questions from customers concerning animals, zoo activities and locations. These individuals need prioritization skills, as to complete daily cleaning tasks, feedings and other animal husbandries while interacting with the public and ensuring smooth inflow and outflow from Papa Steve’s Farm/ Budgie House. Health and safety must be a priority for this person, as they need to keep a watchful eye on all persons interacting with the animals, to ensure the safety of patrons and animals alike.
