AVAILABLE POSITIONS

Element Guide – Whirlpool Adventure Course

Summary

Element Guides are an essential part of the WildPlay Element Parks team, providing excellent service for guests participating in aerial adventures courses and ziplines. Element Guides are knowledgeable, friendly, passionate and able to identify others disposition and put them at ease. Energized by outdoor environments, they are physically active, comfortable with heights, and take satisfaction from supervising and helping others face challenges and push their boundaries.

To excel as an Element Guide, you have an outgoing and confident personality, think on your feet, and demonstrate good sense in all decisions. Able to listen and identify the needs of others, you provide smart advice based on best practices. When necessary, you can be assertive to ensure that guests minimize their risk while participating in Elements. With above-average communication abilities you work effectively in an independent manner as well as part of a team. Prior experience leading or teaching outdoor recreation is an asset.

Responsibilities and Duties
The Element Guide is responsible for:
• Ensuring guests enjoy safe, positive, enriching experiences that exceeds the guests expectations.
• Demonstrating, teaching, and assisting guests in the use of safety equipment
• Ensuring the correct fit, adjustments, and use of equipment before and during Element participation, and security rules are followed, without compromise
• Monitoring Elements for risk management, as well as assessing and intervening when situations require (according to certified WildPlay guide methods)
• Reporting incidents of inappropriate guest/co-worker behaviour to the Team Lead or Park Management
• Reporting equipment/Element malfunctions or abnormalities to Team Lead or Park Management
• Learning the emergency plan
• Performing site maintenance, such as landscaping or grounds-keeping, along with other duties assigned by Team Lead
• Participating as a positive and self-driven member of the WildPlay pride

The Element Guide must possess the following qualifications and skills:
• Proven experience in delivering excellent customer service
• Ability to consistently deliver high standards of work in outdoors, and under all-weather conditions
• Unfailing attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills
• Good judgment, and strong decision-making skills
• Ability to act independently and as part of a team
• A positive attitude and openness to feedback
• Current standard first aid and CPR-C certification

Preferred Qualifications and Skills
Knowledge and experience in adventure recreation (either as a participant or through previous employment experience).

Work Relationships
Reports directly to the Element Team Lead and Park Management.

Work Schedule
Works a flexible schedule of full or part time work, according to the needs of the business. There are requirements to travel to various site locations when appropriate, as well as working both evenings, weekends, and holidays, when appropriate and beneficial to their job responsibilities.

GEAR CREW

Summary

Gear Crew team members are a vital part of the WildPlay Niagara Falls team, supporting risk management procedures by performing detailed inspections on gear and equipment. Gear Crew team members are knowledgeable, friendly, passionate and able to identify potential risks. Energized by outdoor environments, they are physically active, extremely detail oriented and take satisfaction from demonstrating their trained technical skills and abilities.

To excel in Gear Crew, you must be confident and self assured; have the ability to think on your feet, and demonstrate good sense in all decisions. The ability to listen and provide feedback based on the equipment needs of the operation is also essential.

Responsibilities and Duties The Gear Crew is responsible for:
• ensuring guests enjoy safe, positive, enriching experience
• performing detailed inspections of all gear and safety equipment
• safely moving / transporting gear and equipment between landing and launch
• ensuring the correct fit, adjustments, and use of equipment before and during Element participation
• ensuring security rules are followed, without compromise
• monitoring elements for risk management, as well as assessing and intervening when situations require
• reporting equipment/Element malfunctions or abnormalities to Team Lead or Tech Team
• Responsible for maintaining a clean environment, tasks including, but not limited to, cleaning bathrooms, sweeping, mopping, trash removal, spot cleaning, and window washing as required
• Arranging and facilitating vehicles in designated lot areas and issuing parking passes.
• Learning the emergency plan
• Participating as a positive and self-driven member of the WildPlay pride

Required Qualifications and Skills The Gear Crew must possess the following qualifications and skills:
• Ability to consistently deliver high standards of work in outdoor, all-weather conditions including extreme heat, sun, humidity, and temperature change
• Unfailing attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills
• Good judgment, and strong decision-making skills
• Ability to act independently and as part of a team
• A positive attitude and openness to feedback
• Must be able to walk long distances
• Physical demands include continuously holding, carrying and lifting equipment, frequent walking/ standing, and frequent bending/ twisting/ kneeling
• All lifts over 50 lbs, require assistance from a co-worker or the use of a mechanical device

Preferred Qualifications and Skills
Knowledge and experience in adventure recreation (either as a participant or through previous employment experience).

GUEST SERVICES AGENT

Summary

The Guest Services Agent is the face of WildPlay Element Parks, and therefore a critical part of our pride. Agents ensure that guest’s expectations are exceeded by consistently delivering excellent service, and by going the extra mile. In a friendly, confident and knowledgeable way, they welcome guests, take reservations, check guests in to Elements, and guide people efficiently through their arrival and departure at a WildPlay Park. They help guests with decision-making and conduct smooth front-desk transactions for Element and retail sales and services, all while ensuring a professional and welcoming experience.

To excel as a Guest Services Agent, you are friendly, positive and energetic. You thrive on making people feel welcome and you use your excellent communication skills to ensure that every person’s needs are met. You apply initiative to accomplish general tasks during quiet times, and work cohesively with others in the pride during busy times.

Responsibilities and Duties
The Guest Services Agent is responsible for:
• Consistently providing personal service that exceeds a guest’s expectations, both on the phone and face-to-face
• Giving correct information regarding Elements, services, products, and pricing; for both the Whirlpool Adventure Course and the Zipline to the Falls
• Responsible for working shifts at the Niagara Falls Contact Centre answering guest inquires, manage large amounts of inbound calls in a timely manner
• Following Element-specific procedures when booking or checking-in a guest, including ensuring that waivers and the registration forms are completed correctly and filed
• Administering reservations, deposits, payments, and collecting required guest information, for every visit
• Assisting guests in merchandise purchases, tracking inventory, and ensuring the clean and attractive appearance of all areas
• Ensuring the correct amount of equipment is given to the guest and collected after the Element, and taking necessary action in case of a breach
• Inspecting, maintaining, and storing of harnessing and Element equipment in proper manner, and managing harness inventory
• Maintaining general upkeep of Park grounds and buildings
• Assisting in other areas of operation when needed; may include: in-field marketing and sales, food services, guest bookings, retail sales, site security, and the opening and closing procedures of the Park
• Participating in the activities of the park pride in a positive and proactive manner

SHUTTLE DRIVER

Summary

The shuttle drivers are responsible for safely transporting guests and other Team Members to and from the Zipline landing. Drivers must have excellent communication skills in order to effectively interact with fellow drivers, maintenance, other team members, as well as the guests and participants we serve. Commitment, patience, maturity, and initiative are required qualities.

Responsibilities and Duties
The Shuttle Driver is responsible for:
• driving safely, responsibly and prepared for all road conditions
• respecting fellow employees, equipment and customers
• pre and post trip checks of the shuttle each time it is used (emphasis on ensuring adequate fluid levels)
• completion of all applicable paper work required, including vehicle inspections
• maintaining radio contact and use proper radio protocol
• management of passenger behaviour by quickly and effectively solving problems
• maintaining a clean shuttle
• report unsafe conditions and any injuries
• selling and up-selling Elements and merchandise to guests, as well as promoting other WildPlay Element Parks locations when applicable
• being thoroughly knowledgeable in promotions across the company
• soliciting feedback on Elements and experiences from guests, and relaying important feedback to Park management

Required Qualifications and Skills
The Shuttle Driver must possess the following qualifications, skills and attributes:
• A valid driver’s licence
• Excellent driving skills and abilities
• Must be capable of driving a variety of equipment (example: Kawasaki mule, John Deere tractor, golf cart)
• Ability to consistently deliver high standards of work in all-weather conditions including extreme heat, sun, humidity, and temperature change
• Organized, punctual and reliable
• Calm, pleasant and helpful manner
• Strong verbal communication skills
• A team player with the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

ZIPLINE GUIDE

Summary

The Zipline Guide is an essential part of the WildPlay team providing excellent service for our guests. Our guides are knowledgeable, friendly, passionate and able to put others at ease. They thrive outdoors, love being physically active, are comfortable with heights and get great satisfaction from supervising and supporting others to achieve things they didn’t think they could do.

To excel as a Zipline Guide, you have an outgoing, confident personality, can think on your feet and demonstrate good sense in all your actions. You provide sound advice, consistently apply best practices, and can be assertive when required to ensure that guests minimize activity risk. You are a champion of communication and you work well individually or as part of a team. Prior experience leading or teaching outdoor activities is an asset.

Responsibilities and Duties The Zipline Guide is responsible for:
• Ensuring that all guests enjoy safe, positive, enriching experiences
• Demonstrating the use of the equipment to all guests and giving a clear and concise safety talk
• Ensuring the rules are being followed by the guests throughout the entire activity and escalating to a Zipline Team Lead for guests who pose a serious risk to themselves or others
• Reporting all incidents and inappropriate behaviour of the guests or fellow co-workers to the Zipline Lead
• Knowing and practicing site emergency and evacuation plan
• Participating in Daily Course Opening Inspections and in daily and weekly PPE inspections
• Ensuring activity guidelines, policies and procedures are respected (radio protocol, clothing, weight limitations, proper riding and landing positions etc.)
• Meeting a high level of customer service and guest engagement
• Conducting ongoing equipment inspections and bringing any issues to Zipline Team Lead’s attention
• Passing on any positive or negative feedback from guests to management
• Being aware of environmental risks due to weather (heat, snow, ice, rain, wind, lightning, etc.) and taking appropriate actions to manage ensuing risks (hydrating, element evacuation procedures, recognizing signs of frostbite, hypothermia, hyperthermia, heat stroke, etc.)
• Being aware of terrain risks (loose rock, snowy, icy or muddy trails) and taking appropriate actions to manage these risks by either passing the message along to a Team Lead or taking care of these risks if applicable
• Carry out other work as directed by Zipline Team Lead, or Park Management
• Participating as a positive and proactive member of the WildPlay team.
Upon further certification as a member of the Tech Team, a select number of Guides are responsible for:
• Carrying out maintenance tasks on the Zipline system as directed by Element Manager, Element Supervisor, or Park Management
• Conducting ongoing equipment inspections and bringing any issues to the attention of the Zipline Lead Guide’s, member of the Tech Team or Element Manager.
Upon further certification as a member of the Rescue Team, a select number of Guides are responsible for:
• Performing rescue techniques to the level required in the case of an emergency.

Required Qualifications and Skills The Zipline Guide must possess the following qualifications and skills:
• Proven experience in delivering excellent customer service
