Reporting to the General Manager, the Controller will manage all accounting and finance functions, including the preparation of financial statements as well as summaries and forecasts, operational support, financial analysis, internal controls, budgeting, cash flow, forecasting and month/quarter/year end closings. Provide best practice leadership to the division as well as continuous improvement of the accounting function. The Controller will partner with finance team members and be a trusted advisor on division financial and accounting practices.

  • Oversees accounting and finance
  • Manage and Supervise accounting assistant
  • Prepares financial statements and reports including variance analysis and reconciliations
  • Chairs internal monthly financial review meetings
  • Leads internal special projects
  • Assists all departments in preparation of budgets, forecasts for sales, production and consumption of supplies and parts
  • Improves and streamlines accounting systems and operations
  • Provides recommendations on efficiency, internal control and cost reduction
  • ERP system report design and testing
  • Trains department staff
  • Manages purchasing activities and contracts
  • Oversees and reviews customer credit applications
  • Oversees receivable collections
  • Assists all departments toward the profitable advantage of the company
  • Prepares capital project/spending schedules
  • Leads budget process, prepares financial forecasts and projections
  • Develops budget and business plans and monitors for all departments
  • Monitors accounts and financial/accounting transactions
  • Cash and bank management, cheque signing authority greater than $5k
  • Prepares Approval for Expenditure (AFE) forms
  • Payroll Administration for all employees within the facility
  • All year end Payroll functions and reporting and Reconciling
  • Coordinate and prepare and deliver requested information to Corporate as required
  • Prepares New Employee Sign on packages, including ADP onboarding
  • Prepares Registered Pension Plan schedules and reconciliation for audits
  • Administers the benefit and retirement plans


  • Track record of achievement in progressively more senior financial roles
  • Knowledge and experience with GAAP, cost accounting and ERP
  • Solid knowledge of manufacturing accounting with at least 3 years of experience in a plant environment
  • Knowledge of external auditing processes and demonstrated successful responsibility managing this process
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Balanced, firm but fair negotiator
  • Ability to maintain strict confidence in financial sensitive information and demonstrates a high level of integrity.
  • Works closely with operations to develop and monitor plant KPIs.
