Full-Time Indigenous Healthy Living Program Coordinator (1 Position)
Job Description
The intent of the Healthy Living program is to improve the health and wellbeing of urban Indigenous people, and preventing the development of health issues, such as diabetes, obesity, and heart disease. The program is community-based and inclusive to all with a focus on sport activities, physical fitness activities, and physical recreational activities, healthy nutrition education and promotion activities, to develop and support healthy eating practices and behaviors, commercial tobacco smoking cessation/smoke-free living component, and a youth leadership component. Knowledge of Indigenous community and history is crucial to supporting the Friendship Centre movement.
Qualifications:
- Must have a Sports and Recreation diploma or relevant experience
- Experience in program planning, development, implementation and ability to facilitate physical fitness and recreation
- Knowledge of healthy lifestyle behaviours and nutrition and on-going program promotion with the community.
- Able to establish and maintain relationships with local community sports, fitness and recreation
organizations.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Excellent computer skills and database
- Excellent research and reporting
- Knowledge of Office
- Experience working within a community based
- Must have valid driver’s licence, Insurance and reliable vehicle.
- Must have or able to obtain a clear CPIC
