Student Indigenous Summer Day Camp Counsellor (1 Position)
Job Description
To work under the supervision of a designated Program Coordinator supervising the summer day camp for Urban Aboriginal youth ages 4-17 years of age. Knowledge of Indigenous community and history is crucial to supporting the Friendship Centre movement.
• To assist in the development implementation of the day camp activities and events
• To assist in teaching cultural and recreational activities
• To monitor the participants during all camp activities and day trips
• Ensuring the safety and Wellbeing of campers
• Assisting with registration and completion of all necessary forms for campers
• Assist with the pre work for activities
• Assist with the clean up after activities
Qualifications
- Must be between the ages of 15-30 at time of employment
- Previous experience working with children and/or youth considered an asset
- Good written and verbal skills
- First Aid and/or CPR training is considered an asset
- Valid driver’s licences would be definite asset
- Must have reliable transportation to and from work
- Satisfactory criminal records check
