Job Purpose | Overview

The General Assembly Labourer will be required to perform tasks involving physical labourer to assemble LED lighting fixtures, and will be required to operate a variety of hand and power tools. Responsibilities will include the assembly of products using bolts, screws, clips, soldering tools, and assorted fasteners and additional components as required or specified. The General Assembly Labourer will be responsible for the efficient production of our products while also having excellent time management and craftsmanship skills.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Read electrical and other technical diagrams
  • Bolt, screw, clip, weld, solder or otherwise fasten parts and components together using hand and power tools and equipment.
  • Follow all company Health and Safety Protocols. Ensuring a safe work environment at all times.
  • Refer to the installation instructions and travellers for assistance.
  • Connect cables, tubes and wires to complete assemblies and installations
  • Test electrical assemblies, equipment and wiring for proper performance using testing devises.
  • Clean and perform preparation of work site.
  • Sign-out Hardware components from Inventory for fixture builds.
  • Assist in packing and building skids
  • Document and report quality issues or shortages and bring to the Supervisors attention.
  • Clean work area at the end of each shift
  • Return all left over components to inventory
  • Create and apply labels to fixtures as specified
  • Focus on ensuring that stock items are readily available to prevent shortages on manufactured components such as hardware, drivers etc.
  • Document production qualities and ensure consistency is being met.
  • Participate in R&D special projects
  • Any other related duties assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Minimum (1) year of experience in a general assembly or labourer position
  • Knowledge of workplace safety, safe lifting and handling procedures

 Physical Requirements

  • Job requires ability to work with a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Ability to lift and manipulate objects is required. Maximum up to 50lbs.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull or carry objects.
  • Long periods of standing

MACHINE SHOP OPERATOR

Job Purpose | Overview

The Machine Shop Operator is responsible for the safe operation of various manual machining tools to make various parts and jigs for our lighting fixtures. The Machine Shop Operator will have to read and interpret blueprint and drawings in order properly operate and effectively manufacture parts that will be sent to respective departments for further finishing.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Learn to effectively inspect and operate all custom machinery throughout the Machine Shop
  • Work with a variety of machines (i.e. manual milling, pinch roller, pyramid plate rolling machine, pem-stud) to manufacture quality parts and jigs for lighting fixtures.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprint drawings.
  • Report any maintenance required on machine to ensure repairs are adequate and safe
  • Report product, process issues to the Supervisor
  • Promote and ensure safe operation, cleaning and maintenance of production equipment.
  • Following all product handling procedures for Standard Operating Procedures and Safety.
  • Process a high volume of parts with accuracy and consistency
  • Operate saws to cut pieces to size for further machining operations
  • Perform minor equipment maintenance and equipment cleaning
  • Continuously improve processes, procedures, and eliminate waste.
  • Any additional duties assigned by supervisor, management or authorized personnel such as other team leads, supervisors, designers all of which to be authorized by management

PRODUCTION GENERAL LABOURER

Job Purpose | Overview

The goal of this position is to work safely and efficiently to reduce costs and improve productivity while performing all tasks, assisting other operators and employees as necessary, with highest regards to safety in the work area.

The worker must gain conceptual knowledge of the various manufacturing processes, and procedures through exposure and training while assisting other employees and performing various functions as assigned by the Supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Use of various machines (after training)
  • Assisting process control and machine operators in performing their duties
  • Maintaining a clean work area and equipment used

Qualifications

  • Minimum high school diploma, or GED
  • Experience working in a factory setting (production)
  • Previous experience working in manufacturing, production or general labour an asset
  • Able to work independently, quickly and have an attention to detail

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to work with hand tools
  • Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move a minimum of 25 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for long period of time.
  • Work in a plant environment with variable temperatures (hot and cold)

ROUTER OPERATOR

Job Purpose | Overview

Reporting to the Routing Supervisor, the Operator is responsible for operating the CNC router and various other machines to manufacture components from sheet stocks for lighting and other fixtures. It is also required that you inspect the parts for quality and completeness as well an ensuring that tasks are being completed according to our schedule needs. You are responsible for keeping the work area clean and organized and includes sweeping or vacuuming around the machines to keep the floor clean and placing waste in the bins.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the preparation and operation of CNC router equipment for production requirement.
  • Work with a variety of machines (i.e. manual milling, pinch roller, pyramid plate rolling machine, pem stub) to manufacture quality parts and jigs for lighting fixtures.
  • Troubleshoot on product and process discrepancies
  • Performs the initial tooling set up.
  • Read and interpret drawings from the design department.
  • Check parts to drawings and make the necessary adjustments to the machines. Cut moving sheets to and from machine. Ensure to verify the dimensions of the product.
  • Communicate and work with production scheduling to achieve daily targets. Minimize scrap and maximise material usage.
  • Completing all logs, reports and other data defined by the Supervisor.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment to ensure smooth running of machine.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area
  • Assisting other department as needed.

  • Ability to stand for long period of time.
  • Safety equipment will be required, e.g. steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses etc.
