ABOUT US

Steelcon is excited to announce their expanded fabrication capacity with the addition of a manufacturing facility located in Welland, Ontario!

Steelcon’s newly acquired facility in Welland, Ontario will add 112,750 square feet of manufacturing space to Steelcon’s roster of existing four facilities strategically located in Canada and the U.S., for a combined total of more than 712,750 square feet. Designed to house two of Steelcon’s four SIN Beam lines, fabrication at the new facility will primarily focus on SIN Beam and joist production, as well as Steelcon’s patent-pending SIN Floor composite flooring system.

MATERIAL HANDLERS

Main Responsibilities

  • Operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and shunt trucks to handle and transport material, structural steel beams and details.
  • Utilize tools and equipment required for specifics tasks.
  • Analyze and plan the loading of transport vehicles to ensure maximum quantity of structural steel products meets delivery efficiencies while maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Organize steel materials ensuring they are organized and positioned in a proper manner.
  • Maintain clear communication to ensure communication with the specialized workers (Welders, Fitters, Millwrights, and Machine Operators) is established and maintained.
  • Load/unload transport vehicles to ensure production schedules are maintained.
  • Prepare and load raw materials and parts to machines to ensure machine operators have the correct materials for output.

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of progressive experience as a Material Handler preferred
  • Experience in using manufacturing equipment (e.g. overhead cranes, forklifts, shunt truck)
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job by standing for long periods of time, lifting heavy loads of up to 50 lbs.
  • Dexterity and attention to detail
  • Organizational skills
  • Commitment to safety rules and company policies
  • Ability to work at heights
  • Ability to understand and interpret blueprints and drawings

MACHINE OPERATORS

Main Responsibilities

  • Operate assigned machinery to allow the machine to operate required, ensuring production schedules are met.
  • Perform inspection of parts to ensure machine outputs are met for quality purposes.
  • Maintain clear communication to ensure communication with the material handlers are established and maintained.
  • Test operation of machines periodically to ensure machinery is maintained to identify any machine related errors or deficiencies.
  • Maintain activity logs to keep record of machine outputs and maintenance activities.

Required Qualifications

  • Up to 1 year of progressive experience as a Machine Operator preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret structural/technical blueprints and drawings
  • Ability to read measuring instruments in both metric and imperial units
  • Understanding of steel detailed materials (plates, angles, and c-channels)
  • Commitment to safety rules and company policies
  • High school diploma or equivalent; certificate or diploma in engineering or relevant discipline is an asset

WELDER

Main Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints or drawings to weld parts to form complete units.
  • Ensure blueprint or drawing specifications are being met.
  • Understand how components or parts meet specification to measure and verify components or parts are accurate.
  • Provide clear instructions to material handlers to ensure workflow of steel components or parts are brought to and from workstations.

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to understand the set up and operation of welding machine and metal fabrication equipment’s
  • Basic understand of welding symbols and diagrams, read blueprints, and/or other printed instructional material in the welding of products or parts
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job by standing for long periods of time, lifting heavy loads of up to 50 lbs.
  • Ensure safety requirements are met.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Welder Trade Certification and/or CWB certification
  • Experience in structural steel fabrication
  • Basic understanding of the set up and operation of welding machine and other equipment and metal fabrication equipment
  • School Diploma; Grade 12, or equivalent

What you’ll work on:

A skilled Welder/Fitter  will join metals and other materials at our facilities. You will operate appropriate equipment to put together steel structures or parts with a great deal of precision. Your job is important as it provides the foundation for strong infrastructure.

A Welder/Fitter must be competent in using potentially dangerous equipment following all safety precautions. The ideal candidate will also have a steady hand and great attention to detail. Knowledge of different kinds of metal and their properties is essential.

Shift:

  • We are actively hiring for the afternoon shift, working 44 hours per week.
  • Monday to Thursday, 5:15 pm to 5:00 am. Friday, no shift
