Full-Time Lead Hand – Scrap Yard
Job Description
The Yard Lead Hand has a variety of duties and a broad skill set that makes this position an important part of operational needs. The Lead Hand requires knowledge of scrap grading or have a strong desire to learn. The Lead Hand will assist in several aspects of daily operational needs such as scrap inspection, ferrous and non-ferrous purchasing, mobile equipment operation, and performing general maintenance duties. The Lead Hand will be expected to safely learn and operate required machinery for nonferrous production to accomplish daily tasks. The Lead Hand must communicate regularly with the scale, supervisor, other coworkers, and customers about the quality of material being both received and shipped.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide excellent customer service
- Assist with paying customers
- Assist with all Ferrous and Non-Ferrous purchases
- Control traffic in the yard
- Schedule material to be sold/shipped
- Create invoices as needed
- Ensure all health and safety policies are met
- Assign daily tasks as needed
- Maintain work areas and equipment in a clear and orderly fashion
Weekly Hours
- Monday – Friday 7:30am – 4:30pm
- Saturday – 8am -12:30pm (every other Saturday)
Wage based on experience
