Contract Line Cook
Job Description
Queenston Mile Vineyard, a division of Diamond Estates Wines & Spirits, located in Niagara on the Lake may be small in size, but is filled with dedicated individuals who are passionate about their award-winning wines and the experience provided to visitors on the unique property.
The team is currently seeking an experienced Line/Prep Cook to work in our brand-new kitchen for wine focused pairing program, private dinners, and seasonal events. This position is a 6-month contract from April to October, mostly consisting of daytime shifts, including weekends and some evening shifts.
Summary of Duties:
- Set up and stocking stations with all necessary supplies.
- Prepare food for service (e.g., chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces)
- Cook menu items in cooperation with kitchen team.
- Clean up station and properly store food, prepared and unprepared.
- Stock inventory appropriately
- Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion.
- Comply with sanitation regulations and safety standards.
- Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers.
Requirements:
- Proven cooking experience as a line/prep cook.
- Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures.
- Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks.
- Culinary school diploma or equivalent experience.
- Safe Food Handling certificate.
- Access to reliable transportation as property is located remotely from public transport.
