Literacy Instructor
One full time and one part time position available
Responsibilities:
The Literacy Instructor is a patient individual who has a desire to support adult learners improving their basic skills through instruction. This position supports the Literacy Program Coordinator by doing intakes, assessments, helping people achieve milestones, and helping find community resources. Knowledge of Indigenous community and history is crucial to supporting the Friendship Centre movement.
Qualifications:
- Must have a High School Diploma or higher
- Experience in group facilitation
- Strong understanding and awareness of Indigenous Peoples’ contribution to our community.
- Knowledge of social barriers and challenges faced by urban Indigenous people.
- Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong computer skills, including database reporting.
- Previous reporting and research skills.
- Experience working within an Indigenous community based organization is an asset
- Must have valid driver’s license, Insurance and reliable vehicle
- Must have or able to obtain a clear CPIC for the Vulnerable
