Part-Time Midnight Maintenance Custodian (1 Position)

Job Description

Position Summary: Responsible for maintaining the general upkeep of the facilities as required as well as ensuring the safety and wellbeing of guests, Team Members, and premises of the Americana between the hours of 11:00pm to 8:00am.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Patrols by foot and vehicle and inspects interior and exterior of facilities to defend against damage, theft, or harm.
  • Escorts Team Members to their vehicle after an evening/night shift if requested.
  • Ensures premises are secured at all times.
  • Performs nightly record keeping and incident reporting.
  • Performs custodial duties such as window cleaning, garbage removal, sweeping and mopping floor and carpet, etc.
  • Removes garbage/recycling from all refuse outlets throughout the Resort and properly disposes of as scheduled.
  • Assists with periodic baggage handling as required.
  • Contacts law enforcement when necessary.
  • Communicates with guests in a professional and tactful manner when dealing with disruptive behaviour.
  • Examines and reports potential unsafe working conditions.
  • Issues warnings to patrons and guests and follows up as required.
  • Responds to problems and complaints in a timely manner.
  • Responds to guest room services calls immediately and maintain excellent communication with Front Desk, Food & Beverage and Housekeeping.
  • Responds and acts upon Team Member pages in a timely manner.
  • Opens and closes pool and ensure its safety.
  • Responds and acts upon service calls (housekeeping, maintenance and security) in a timely manner and maintains excellent communication with Front Desk, Housekeeping and Restaurant.
  • Follows all safety and fire regulations and procedures at all times.
  • Deals with local Fire Department/Monitoring Company as well as operates the fire control and annunciator panel during fire alarm/emergency evacuation situations.
  • Promotes and follows all safety and fire regulations and procedures and directs all hotel team members and guests during fire alarms and evacuation while ensuring their safety in an efficient and calm manner.
  • Performs nightly custodial duties.
  • Performs “LOCK-DOWN” of perimeter entrances and building nightly and opens building daily.
  • Ensures safe “CROWD-CONTROL” at group functions and at transition periods following events.
  • Professionally represents the Americana at all times by maintaining a clean uniform, neat appearance and excellent personal hygiene.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager/Ownership.

Professional Qualifications:

  • Completion of High School
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s License
  • Valid Police Clearance Certificate
  • Fall Arrest Certification
  • Aerial Work Platform Certification
  • Standard First Aid & CPR Certification

Personal Qualities:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must be pleasant and cheerful.
  • Detail-oriented, ethical and honest.

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing, walking, bending, lifting,
  • Stress in dealing with high volume of calls and guest concerns.
