Job Description

St. Andrew’s United Church in Niagara Falls, Ontario is looking for a creative and talented individual to collaborate with the minister, other staff members and Creative Worship Team to enrich our worship experience through music and be instrumental in weekly worship planning.

This person will possess an adaptable skill set and leadership capabilities, with an eye to growing our music and worship ministry as we Reach up to God and Reach out to People.

22 hours per week with program reviews at 3 month, 6 months and 1 year with the potential for increased time.

SKILLS:

– Skilled keyboard player and musician.
– Vocalist an asset
– Researching, formatting, creating, arranging music charts.
– Knowledge of current music technology in presentation and mixing.
– Ability to lead and coordinate a worship band
– Ability to lead small or large choral groups.
– Good communication, organizational and team leadership skills
– Possess a wide repertoire of musical styles from modern to traditional.
– Experience applying the above skills.

FAITH:

– Be actively engaged in a personal life of faith.
– Understand and appreciate the worship role of music in the congregation’s life.
– Encourage, support, and develop the various volunteer teams and their members under their leadership.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

– Collaborate with the Minister and Creative Worship Team in creating the weekly service
– Schedule and run weekly music rehearsals
– Co-ordinate, develop, and recruit instrumentalists and vocalists
– Oversee various logistical details pertaining to worship services. Liaising with the sound team, the live stream videographer, musicians, vocalists, drama team, and any other team that might be involved in the service..
– Format lyrics for livestream
– Determine direction and priorities of the music ministry in collaboration with congregational leaders.
– Maintain a music library; maintain instruments (tuning)
– Provide or arrange music for Weddings and funerals in consultation with minister
