Job Description

The Project Manager is responsible for project delivery and performance of Civil Infrastructure projects and is well versed in sewer/watermain work, excavations, foundations, and overall earthworks through years of expertise in the construction sector.

The successful candidate must be able to think strategically, but also execute on the ground level in project execution. This role requires a motivated individual having extensive experience along with broad project management experience related to construction groundworks including: grading and site servicing, excavation and backfill, trucking and aggregates, concrete foundations and flatwork.

With advanced problem-solving and scheduling skills, this position will lead a team of site supervisor to attain the overall project goals. Managing the execution of best practices in project set-up and progress, tracking equipment and labour costs, developing and maintaining internal reporting systems and managing all aspects of the project are the requirements for this position.

The ideal candidate will manage the overall direction and reporting of projects from estimating through the contractual closeout including advising on project issues and managing team collaboration while fully contributing to company’s culture, mission and values through thoughtful leadership and actions.

Position Overview
• Manage, review and report on project costs and able to recognize and proactively correct cost overruns and compensate for estimating oversights
• Monitors the financial status of assigned projects
• Ensures project risks are identified and actively managed
• Ability to effectively create, interpret and execute contracts
• Immediately notifies contractor and site supervisors of drawing, specification, or scope changes for their timely review and response
• Effectively manages change order and billings process
• Compares work billed with work performed and keeps them in balance
• Ensures project file accurately reflects up-to-date safety and project-related documents
• Develops, manages, monitors and maintains project schedules and workflow
• Coordinates project schedules and needs including equipment, labour and materials
• Ensures daily logs, construction stage inspection reports are maintained
• Ensures safety duties and responsibilities are effectively actioned by site supervisors

The Successful Candidate
• C.E.T. designation preferred or other industry related designation
• 5-7 years in related Project Management experience
• Ability to manage change and work well under pressure
• Proven experience to manage projects full-cycle
• A team player and collaborator
• Technologically savvy

SALARY RANGE: $80-$95K per annum

Note the role is for “ground works” (not above ground design/build)
