Full-Time Service Manager

The Niagara franchise is looking for the right person to join our growing team in a newly created position.

The Service Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Exterminator department. The Service Manager reports to the Owner but works hand in hand with the Field Operations Manager and the Office Supervisor and occasionally the Health and Safety Representative. This position will ensure the Exterminator department is fully staffed, trained, and supervised to provide an elevated level of service for new and existing clients.

This position involves a mix of office and hands on field activities. This is not strictly an office job. There are portions of it which require you to work in the field with the exterminators.

 

General Overview

The Service Manager will be involved in and oversee most of the activities of the Exterminator department. This position is supported by the Field Operations Manager who will provide support and guidance in the hiring and education of the exterminators and provide troubleshooting support for extermination jobs.

This position has the potential to expand into a General Manager position.

Qualifications

  • Previous management experience preferred
  • Previous experience in Pest Control is an asset but not required. We prefer to train the right person over pest control experience
  • A valid Driver’s License with a clean abstract
  • Ability to get to work reliably
  • Outgoing, energetic person with strong communication skills and an interest in growing with the company.
  • Familiarity and comfort level with computers including Microsoft Office
  • Strong time management skills

Primary Responsibilities

  • Hire, train and supervise the technical team with the goal of achieving specified production targets and remaining within the allocated cost structure associated for this activity.
  • Ensure the products and services are applied within rules, laws, and policies of the franchise system as well as relevant regulating bodies.
  • Ensure the proper care and maintenance of all vehicles used in the running of the business. This includes the safety, functionality, and appearance of said vehicles according to legal, franchise and business plan standards.
  • Ensure the proper care and maintenance of all equipment used in the operation of the business. This includes safety, functionality, and appearance of all equipment.
  • Ensure and participate in getting all production done in a timely fashion in accordance with budgetary considerations.
  • Review Exterminator schedules to ensure customer follow ups are conducted according to customer needs and within company guidelines.
  • Obtain and maintain Required Exterminator’s and driver’s license.
  • Continue to acquire and learn all relevant information related to managing a structural pest control team.
  • Learn all the office and computer procedures and provide office support where needed.
  • Always maintain the warehouse and outside storage area in a clean and organized manner.
  • Assist the office staff as may be required from time to time.
  • Monitor and ensure the quality of work by the Exterminators.
  • Consult with the owner regarding the implementation, adherence to and execution of the business plan.

Daily Responsibilities

Working with the office manager

  • Build Exterminator routes daily
  • Schedule Exterminators when required
  • Liaise with Field Operations Manager to ensure ordering and delivery of products.
  • Schedule and oversee vehicle maintenance and repairs.
  • Conduct regular quality control visits on seasonal technicians
  • Participate in all Health and Safety training programs as required by the company to ensure our legal compliance with local standards as well as to ensure a safe working environment for our team members.

Hours of Work

Work week is generally Monday to Friday 7:30 to 5:00pm

During the busy season (approx. April 15 to November 15) the hours may be a little longer depending upon workload. We occasionally work Saturdays during this period.
