Full-Time Threading Labourers (Multiple Positions)
Job Description
Job Gym is supporting a Welland based manufacturer to recruit Threading Labourers. These are full time, permanent positions with strong compensation packages.
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Threading Manager as part of an interdependent team, the Threading Labourer/Bucker is responsible for application of thread compound, deburring of threads as required, coupling installation, applying thread protectors and apply shipping tag, supporting a 24/7 production schedule. The Threading Labourer/Bucker is a key member of the facility’s Production Team and will undertake activities associated with the continuous improvement and ensure continuous flow of product through the department.
Duties/Responsibilities/Procedures:
- Operate all equipment required to perform necessary job functions;
- Daily shift start up inspections on equipment and follow up on preventive maintenance reports;
- Participate and communicate with all personnel throughout the facility;
- Work with production schedules and understand the product flow through operations to maintain production flow;
- Comply with all PPE requirements;
- Inspect equipment to detect defects;
- Assist in the cleaning of machinery;
- Maintain housekeeping and equipment;
- Actively participate in continuous improvement and problem-solving initiatives;
- Adhere to and comply with all applicable company policies and procedures;
- Grind threads with die grinder (as required per thread design);
- Paint threads with dope;
- Apply appropriate striping and stamping to pipe using hand rollers, manual stamp and hammer (as required per thread design; typically completed by Threading Labourer/Inspector).
- Hand thread couplings (ranging in weight from 9 – 56LBS.) onto threaded ends of pipe;
- Power tighten couplings onto joints using automated system;
- Hand thread pin/box end caps onto each joint (less than 1LB);
- Maintain hand written production reports;
Job Specifications:
Educational and Experience Requirements for this position:
- Minimum of an Ontario Secondary School Diploma;
- Proven written/verbal communication ability;
- A minimum of 5 years related work experience operating sophisticated equipment and machinery in an industrial setting;
- Basic technical aptitude including but not limited to: computers, math, assembly and general manufacturing principles;
- Willingness and ability to work flexible hours/shifts;
- Demonstrated capability to work with bucking equipment and pipe conveyors;
- Demonstrated ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide;
- Working knowledge of tools, materials, methods and practices used in the threading department;
- Working knowledge of SCADA part tracking;
- Satisfactory criminal reference check in accordance with the company’s policy
- Reliable transportation as public transportation is not available
