$16.00 / hr | Full-time Seasonal potential Permanent Hire | Agricultural Warehouse
One of our agricultural clients in Fenwick, ON is in search of a group of strong, motivated, independent workers to assist in the shipping/warehouse department during their busy season. (April – June). There is a potential for permanent full-time hire at the end of this term.
Qualified candidates should have warehouse, shipping or order-picking experience, though it is not mandatory. The client is willing to train the right individuals. This position requires that candidates be physically fit and comfortable on their feet all day, bending and lifting. Attention to detail, organizational skills, a willingness to work as a team player, and dedication to work are very important traits.
Candidates must be able to read and write English fluently, as they will be required to compare shipments coming and going to printed manifests to ensure accuracy. Shifts range from 8-12 hours per day, dependent on work load. Monday-Friday is standard, some Saturdays may be required, and Sundays are off. Own reliable transportation is an asset, however carpool may be available from St. Catharines.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
- Examine contents and compare with records such as manifests, invoices, or orders to verify accuracy.
- Confer or correspond with warehouse supervisors to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, etc.
- Pack, seal, label and prepare materials for shipping
- Sorting, crating and stacking goods
- Cleanup of work site, ensuring floors and walkways remain clear of trip/injury hazards.
- Follow safe work procedures and practices and report all unsafe working conditions/hazards to reporting Manager.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work with live plants/trees (no allergies)
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Have good attention to detail and a desire for quality work
- Exceptional multi-tasking skills and ability to work with minimal supervision
- Willing to work as a team player and support coworkers where needed
- Ability to read and understand English
- Ability to follow verbal instructions
- Have strong communication skills
- Be reliable, energetic & hardworking with a positive attitude
- CSA-approved steel toe work shoes or boots (green patch) mandatory
